If I could give 0 stars, I would. I’ll go ahead and agree with the review that says “expect your belongings to be ruined by mold and mice.” They will be. My family storage unit was completely infested by mice. We had to make a stop by the dump after we were forced to empty our belongings and run from said mice (like I said, INFESTED). We are absolutely disgusted and appalled! They wouldn’t refund any money and dead mice were everywhere outside. Please don’t waste your money here. ... Read more

Expect your belongings to be ruined by mold and mice. Extremely rude individuals. No warning given knowing I was putting mattresses and fabric furniture in the unit (although we did cover and underlay with plastic as a good measure for storing anyway). All fabrics were wet to the touch. Only items salvaged were those that could be bleached. In a period of 6 months our home's contents were destroyed. No compensation and no bartering offered for the time to empty and dispose of destroyed items. Had to pay full price for rotten belongings to be held until I could empty. Two tenants in units near me had the same experience. Shameful. Don't ruin your stuff. Go elsewhere. Can get same price for good units. ... Read more

For short term storage, this will suffice but if you're intending having your things sit for an extended amount of time....go somewhere else! The gate "hours" are from dawn to dusk. We were moving and the hours made it extremely difficult if you're trying to squeeze in one more load for the day but you don't know exactly when the gates are closed. On more than one occasion, we drove all the way over there to find that the gates were already closed. Sometimes on rainy days, they didn't open all day. When we brought this up to the woman who runs, owns, and lives on site she told us that the gate was on a dawn to dusk sensor and sometimes rainy days were too dark for it to recognize that it was daytime! WHAT?! She made no effort to remedy the situation. By the time we had argued with her enough regarding access to our property, she began adding fees to our rent with the excuse that we were late. We would show up to grab a few things and there would be one of her locks on our unit. She would randomly change our due date then change it back. She even attempted to raise our rent almost $100. When we told her that it was our last month she attempted to keep our deposit along with excess "cleaning charges" when we left our unit cleaner than when we moved in. While delivering paperwork to her disputing the charges for cleaning and keeping our deposit stating basically that we would see her in court, she promptly waived the cleaning charges and wrote a check for return of our deposit. Summary: Don't cause a fuss and/or extra work for her and you'll be fine but as soon as you have a problem, expect things to get difficult and expensive. ... Read more

Compared to Fox Storage & Melton Lake Storage, the price for a single cube herr is better than the other local self-storage facilies I have called. It is prepay with no fees, but you have to buy your own lock, and I suggest getting one of those uncutable, stainless steel round Master locks. None of this storage facility is climate controlled, and they may not have any room for trailers or truck attachments. We got the 10 x 15 ft (1350 cu. ft) for $80/month. Our D building looks like it had a roof leak on the inside, but we didn't easily see any roof damage or water. A friend of mine chose the 5 x 5 ft for $35/ month. He had to use a little WD-40 on the door, so it's in better condition than when he got it. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Elza Gate Self Storage - 99 Oak Ridge Turnpike include the following amenities: Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Parking and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
