Read some helpful reviews of Five Star Storage at 3800 South Grange Avenue, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I would not recommend renting from this business. I just had one of the most scary experiences of my life yesterday. Pulled up to my storage unit and someone had cut off my locks, put on a heavy duty lock, and tried to lock me out of my storage and it wasn't management. Damn near everything I own was/is in that unit. My only guess is someone put it on to monitor it for a few days and if the lock remained, that meant it wasn't well monitored and a green light to raid my unit... units can be accessed 24/7. When I went freaking out into office, manager seemed pretty unconcerned. An employee eventually came and cut the lock off and luckily everything was how I had left it. I truly was expecting it to be ransacked and most of my valuables missing. When looking for storage, I read one person's accounts of their unit here also being broke into (believe they thought the chain link fence was climbed), and I ignored it. If you still decide to rent here, do not use locks that can be cut with bolt cutters. Mine were both brand name 'standard' locks. I bought 2 of the round, hard-to-cut shank heavy duty locks to replace. They have up a big 'video surveillance' sign. It means nothing.... MOST OF THE ROWS DO NOT HAVE CAMERAS. Luckily I will be out of the unit next week, and checking daily to make sure all's safe. This place is not safe as far as I'm concerned! ... Read more

We rented a storage unit here for one year. We were told one break in 5 years ago. We had 2 break-ins in that year and lady in the office laughed and said thieves must be camping since they took our tent and last week they stole fishing poles from another unit. Went to sweep it our today only to see they rented it out already and we paid through June, that is double dipping. Do not rent from them. We had to ask for a reimbursement. ... Read more

Used these units because the location was convenient, but the lady at the front office is never there and nobody ever answers the phone. Near impossible to get ahold of them to get a unit or end a rental. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Five Star Storage - 3800 South Grange Avenue include the following amenities: Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 50 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Five Star Storage - 3800 South Grange Avenue start from $49 and can go up to $182 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
