Brung my grandfathers boat that was gifted to me here for a diagnostic inspection , waited 3 weeks for a response .. finally received my boat back after several phone calls with a burnt choke solenoid ($80), hole in my boat tarp ($120) and still a motor that won’t start with no answer as to exactly what the issue is . I personally rebuilt the carburetor ,replaced the starter solenoid , put a new starting motor in, brand new battery , brand new fuel pump and fuel lines. I’ve done my due diligence before even bringing my boat to a licensed boat mechanic. And after wasting three weeks of my own time and $140 the only response I get is to Rebuild the carburetor again with the same exact parts I’ve already used(OEM), but the mechanic is unable to tell me specifically what part was supposedly causing the problem Technician stated the choke solenoid burnt while they were doing the testing , but there is obviously signs to show the motor was over stressed from them attempting to crank to often and melted the entire part. I bring a motor in with one specific issue asking only for the inspection to be completed to let me know what the problem is. In return I get a motor with even more issues now and more parts that I have to replace out of my pocket avoid this place and this company by any means necessary. They will return you your motor with even more issues and offer no solutions to fix neither the initial problems you had or the problems they caused you. I was recommended to come here by a good relative of mine due to a good reputation from Gene. It appears the ownership has transferred over to someone name Jeff and this could be the possible reason for the issues I’m facing now.. You’ve been warned, I repeat do not come here for any reason at all ... Read more

Just bought my first boat and had trouble with my trim on the motor, after replacing a relay and it not working I gave Genes marine service a call. I explained to him what was going on and he talked me through some of the process to then inviting me to come bring the boat by for him to look at to help me out even though he had tons to work on. Gene taught me years worth of knowledge in less than 30 to 45 mins and walked me through the fix of the problem in less than 10. I’m extremely appreciative of Gene and his kindness, knowledge and will to help a stranger. Knows anything there is to know in the marine world and has an excellent right hand man Clay. These guys are the real deal and won’t miss anything. Do not hesitate to take your boat there or give Genes a call about anything you are having trouble with ... Read more

Hauling my old Boston Whaler in traffic the other day, the right hub broke and the wheel nearly fell off. Not a welcome sight. So, with no idea where to tell the tow truck driver to send it, I took a chance on these guys through a random recommendation. I remember at the time feeling like this could go south quickly, but I really had no other option on a weekend. Turns out, this was about the nicest bunch of guys you'd ever expect to run into. They got the job done and the boat back to me on Tuesday, rock solid. It wasn't super cheap, but that's a boat for you. I tend to maintain my own stuff, so I may not go back anytime soon. But if I get slack and get into another bind with the boat or trailer, I won't think twice about going back. Highly recommend. ... Read more

Gene was awesome! My husband and I are brand new to the boat life so when we couldn’t figure out what was wrong, we felt lost. Gene was extremely thorough and explained everything to us. He made sure to keep us updated with his findings and asked whether we wanted to move forward with each repair. We would recommend him in a heartbeat! You can truly tell that he has a passion for what he does! We trust him with our boat and will be going there for all of our boat needs! THANK YOU GENE!! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Gene-s Marine Service - 1721 West Main Street include the following amenities: Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
