MOUSE POOP EVERYWHERE!!!! Don’t store your items in one of these units if you don’t want mouse poop on your belongings!!!! I got a unit here in January 2024. All of the items I put in this unit were from inside my home where I did not have any mice. 4 months later I went back to the unit to get out baby items as I was pregnant and expecting another child in July 2024. I found mice poop all throughout my stuff. I went right in that same day and spoke with the owner. He showed me his bait and traps and stated that since it was a relatively new facility they were having problems with mice. Today 2/26/2025 I went back to get more items and found even more mice poop ever than before!! I pulled one box out and the amount of poop that fell off of it was so disturbing and disgusting!!!!! I have been to my unit several times to get things out and put things in. Each time there is always more mice poop. Therefore I know that it’s not residual or left over mice poop from the beginning when I first saw it. It’s clearly an ongoing problem and has only gotten worse. The bottom of door to the building where my unit is inside of has broken cement where it’s so easy for mice to get in. Obviously the bait, traps and gaping holes in the buildings are not helping the problem. They also raised the price of the unit starting 2/27/2025. Hopefully they use price increase of all the units to make necessary repairs to their buildings to prevent more mice getting in. ... Read more

Edit 6/14/24: While I don’t particularly enjoy back and forth commentary on issues, I also don’t enjoy a situation being misrepresented. My spouse spoke with Mike after I left my review, and he explained that he was unsure of who I had spoken with regarding the move-out, but that *I* had been misinformed. I was not misinformed as I spoke to Mike himself, who returned my call and provided me with his personal cell phone number on my voicemail. One of the greatest signs of integrity is being able to admit mistakes and accept responsibility… which did not happen. This mistake cost us money and the only acknowledgment we got was that *we* had been misinformed. I really do advise anyone considering this location to exercise caution. Renting a unit online was easy enough to do. The unit was clean on our arrival and no issues with getting our keys. When we moved out, we had numerous mouse droppings and some unidentified object that a mouse had carried into the unit and been chewing on. We had the unit for only one month so we did not expect mice issues. Be sure to double check your billing statements. We paid pro-rated rent from the 27th to the end of March with a new billing cycle beginning 4/1. We were told we had to move out 4/26 despite paying for the entirety of the month, with the next billing date being 5/1. Tried to speak to the owner and was fed information that did not match the billing statement online at all. This really interfered with our move as we had expected to have the unit until 5/1. Overall, would not recommend working with this storage facility. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Charter Oak Storage - 584 Longs Pond Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Drive-Up Access, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Unstaffed Location, Parking, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 80 to 1,200 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Charter Oak Storage - 584 Longs Pond Road start from $79 and can go up to $1,550 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
