If I could leave 0 stars and still upload the review, I would. I had to throw away over $1,000 worth of belongings that I stored here. I am writing this a year after the incident as we were in communications with the office to try to rectify the situation, but they did not. I rented a unit last summer to keep my entire apartment worth of belongings in as I was moving apartments in the fall. It seemed fine at first, but when I came to get my stuff out in August it was all covered in cockroaches and cockroach droppings. It was disgusting and the stuff was unsalvageable. I wasn't going to risk bringing any cockroaches or cockroach eggs into my brand new apartment or my car. I went to the office and asked what to do and she apologized and had me fill out an incident report, which stated that when I rented the storage space I was given a insurance policy for up to $3,000. The girl at the office told me to send a log of everything that was inside the unit with prices of replacement and pictures of damages, and to just leave the unit as is and they would throw the stuff away for me. I spent HOURS making the log and sent it to them. They replied almost a month later by saying that they would give me $60 to buy cleaning products to clean the stuff (that they had already thrown out) and they would do nothing more. There was no food or anything in the unit that would have drawn them in, and the list I sent them was for about $1,400 worth of stuff, which is HALF of what the insurance policy I was given covered. We were told by everyone we talked to that there would be no problem being reimbursed, and then we were offered $60. I had to buy all new stuff and it cost me a ton of money and an insane amount of stress and frustration. Do not rent from here. ... Read more

I had a frustrating experience with SROA Storage in Columbia. When I first signed up, I was told by a representative that if I gave notice before moving out, the final month’s rent would be prorated. I gave them three weeks’ notice before vacating—more than enough time for a storage facility. Despite that, I was told they do not prorate and would be charged for the entire month, even though I moved out just six days into it. When I brought up what I was originally told, there was no effort to honor it or make things right. The facility itself was fine, but the way this policy was handled—and the miscommunication from the beginning—left a bad impression. I would not rent from them again, and I suggest getting everything in writing if you decide to use this company. I believe I received an auto AI response to my post. Are you kidding? Make things right and don’t mislead the next family that utilizes your service. I owned a business for 30 years and I never mislead a customer. ... Read more

I mean… it does the job. It’s a place to store your belongings for cheap. The place itself is really spooky and looks like something out of a horror movie, though. I refuse to go by myself, so I always bring at least one person with me. Some of the motion-activated lights on the first floor don’t work, making that part of the building even more unsettling. There is a tall ledge that you have to lift your belongings onto to be able to take them into the building (there is no ramp). If you have big, heavy things, this is not very convenient. We also noticed that, although the place says it is climate controlled, it’s still very warm. When we asked about this, we were told that the temperature was kept at 80 degrees to avoid damaging items, but to make it uncomfortable for people who might try to live there. Unfortunately, this makes it uncomfortable for those of us just trying to store our items, as well. So… yeah. Quirky little place. Glad I only need it for a little bit. Very friendly staff, though! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Storage Rentals of America - 2830 Main Street include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 20 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Storage Rentals of America - 2830 Main Street start from $21 and can go up to $336 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
