Read some helpful reviews of Go Store It at 17 Walnut Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

Zee is an amazing attentive Go Store it Employee. I knew her for years at the dry Go Store It on Johnnie Dodds and now she is at the air conditioned unit one on Johnnie Dodds. Keep up the good work Zee! ... Read more

We had a really disappointing experience with this go store it. When we first rented, we could only talk to a woman on a big screen instead of in person, which made things confusing. Both of us even cut our fingers on the sharp lock on the door, and when we tried to communicate that to them, they didn’t even answer. Later, when we moved out, nobody had ever told us how to check out, and then they tried to charge us extra just because we left the lock on. Between the lack of communication, unsafe equipment, and surprise fees, I wouldn’t recommend storing your things here. Not to mention the gate was always left open, and overall did not seem secure. ... Read more

The place went downhill fast after the $ saving automation. No longer safe yet prices only went up. Found Carters City Storage and very happy there with better service and stable and very reasonable pricing too. ... Read more

Absurd rate increases. Signed my rate and personally asked the manager on site if it would stay the same or should I expect an increase. He insured me that this would be my rate for the foreseeable future. A few months later it increased 20 dollars (manageable), then another 20 dollars and so on. It went from 89 to almost 200 now and I’ve had the unit for only a year! It’s a typical scam to raise rents in hopes people are too lazy to move. The area is what it is. You know that when you sign up. But the constant elevators broken or doors being broken is wild. ... Read more

It’s Sunday and the elevator has been made to not work on purpose. So lucky for me the item’s were in one bsag. And it’s outside of their normal business hours. So anyone having to move anything large will not be able to move today. As soon as I seen the lights on I knew it was going to be an issue. There are ppl who seem to be living in their storage unit. ... Read more

My overall experience with gostoreit has had more downs than ups, but customer service rep Nytaea was very helpful in helping resolve a recent issue where the lock was mistakenly removed from my unit. I would rate her service 5/5. She is the reason this overall rating is 3 star instead of 1. ... Read more

EDIT ADDED: This was the response to a Yelp review: "We're truly sorry to hear about your experience and understand your frustration with the price increases and maintenance issues. We strive to provide the best service and facilities for our customers, and it's clear we fell short in this instance. Your feedback is valuable and will be taken into consideration as we work to improve our services. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. --Team GSI" Sounds very copy and pastey to me! I should copy and paste the review by Kara because she nailed the whole experience. I also love the corporate response. We should do a deep dive into corporate and see what their business ethics and priorities actually are. The website does not have that much information about them either. I started renting a unit December 2023 at $173. It was an easy process and Lisa was great. You could tell she enjoyed her job and took pride in what she did. Whenever she worked and I went to my unit, she would give a wave as if she knew you. Then February 2024, I was given notice that my rent was going up to $249. WOW. But I kept it because it was still Okish. From then until now I have noticed the sharp decline of the whole property so it makes sense that Lisa no longer works there and then I saw the kiosk. (1st-What? lol How are you going to manage a property with a kiosk machine?) Main gate is always open/broken and the "secure" doors to the units are always broken. Carts are either there or not, broken or not. Damage to walls and unit doors. I've never ventured to other areas or the stairwell but I am going to do that later and report back with pictures! Now today I get another notice that the rent is going up to $324! HOLY $H!T. Just to reiterate Dec '23 = $173 and starting Mar '25 =$324. That is quite shocking. I also like the reasoning behind it too: "Due to operational costs associated with providing you the best possible self-storage experience, we are instituting the minimum rate increase needed to meet the financial demands of our storage facility. We are excited to utilize this opportunity to make further improvements to the property and to your overall experience with us." L.O.L. It is probably for the repair though. I also think that's what they said from the last rent increase. Based on these reviews though, it doesn't seem like they have used it well. The location is convenient to where I live but I will say that it is not a great area. It is by a homeless shelter and you will see make shift tents. There are always people around that use the outside as a bathroom so I would not blame them if they saw an open gate to this facility with, as luck should have it, broken doors to go inside. The "local" number is not to this location but to a far away land where companies like to out source to. So if having someone onsite to speak to about anything is a priority, do not go here. ... I want to first state that I have been a customer for over 2 years now and when I moved in I had the most amazing experience. Ms. Lisa the property manager was super friendly and kept this place in amazing shape. Ms. Lisa gave it a welcoming feeling and that your property was going to be safe. She built the most amazing relationships and working relationships with the local police department to have officers check on the property. Unfortunately, corporate America stepped in and not in a good way. Without telling customers the 17 Walnut location went to KIOSK ONLY. Go Store it attempted to raise my monthly payment by 160% after only being in there for 3 months. Since then, the main gate is never secured, closed, or locked. Both doors to the storage area are always broken and stuck open. You can never find a cart and now the elevators are broken. I hope you all have good insurance. The area this location is in, is not in a safe area, has a very high foot traffic population and now I keep finding random bikes in the parking lot. SAVE YOUR MONEY. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Go Store It - 17 Walnut Street include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 9 to 400 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Go Store It - 17 Walnut Street start from $14 and can go up to $700 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
