Read some helpful reviews of Public Storage at 540 Knox Abbott Drive, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

This has not been a great experience. We have multiple units here that we pay for monthly. Over the year they keep increasing our monthly fees. We went into a unit to retrieve our Christmas decorations and there was at least one giant rat in our stuff. The ceiling has caved in and there is debris everywhere. We pay extra for insurance only to find out they only cover $250 in damage from “vermin”. There is never an actual person working on site and it’s very difficult to get ahold of the property manager. Do not waste your money here. Edited to add: It’s been over a month and we have still been dealing with this. We’ve been hung up on. Had incredibly rude service. No accountability on their part. No help with getting the rat situation handled rude mean people and that’s if they even answer the phone. ... Read more

Convenient and easy - just wish longer hours and rent didnt increase steadily to the point of unaffordabilty. Personally no issues, but my friends are getting priced out. Long time loyal customers should get a locked in rate, dont ya think? ... Read more

I was very happy with the Public Storage location in Knox Abbott Drive in Cayce, SC. The unit was clean and ready to go when we got there. I like that this location is all one level. This location is fenced in with a coded gate and an on-site manager. I felt that our belongings were safe and secure. The app makes it super easy to get in and out of the gate. When I had a question about moving out, I was able to get the answer and assistance I needed. I highly recommend this particular location. It is very convenient to UofSC. There is one closer to the campus, but that one isn't fenced and is multi-storey. Just a note, when you move out, be sure to do it before the 1st of the month. The price is not prorated for used/unused days. That is a corporate policy, and the individual locations can't adjust for you. ... Read more

This place is absolutely amazing. The customer service is incredible when I had an issue with my payment method. Jo reached out immediately and she was able to help resolve my issue. She stayed in contact and was available when I called which sometimes doesn’t happen at other storage facilities. I highly recommend this location from personal use but the overall companies locations I’m sure reflect the same work ethic. If needed in the future, Public Storage will be my first stop for service. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 540 Knox Abbott Drive include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 75 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 540 Knox Abbott Drive start from $76 and can go up to $255 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
