They promised a rate, I put my stuff in and then two months later my rate doubled. Ridiculous to have someone use you for a rate only to increase it once they store their belongings in it. There are cheaper options. This may be cheap because they get you in with a special but they increase it and you end up paying more. ... Read more

A mixed bag, I have used SROA now three times, units are clean and secure. It’s been a mixed bag. I had two climate controlled units where HVAC went out, I don’t know that it ever got repaired, but summer was about over so I did not pursue whether it was resolved. I live in SC so winter temps are not a real issue this far south. The third unit I rented….was a bit of a circus, no one contacted me to finalize the lease in a timely manner as they said they would. I ended up at the unit with my movers waiting with my things for SROA to sort it out over the phone and online. I waited nearly 45 minutes on the phone and executing a lease on my iPhone while my movers sat and waited in their truck. Debra from SROA was great that morning to get me in however that should have never happened, the first SROA rep I spoke with to reserve my unit simply dropped the ball big time. I called her the day before to try and see if we were ready to go, left a message, she eventually returned my call AFTER I had moved into my unit. Poor handling and handoff on her part if she was going to be out of the office. All that being said I would rent from them again thanks to Debra’s performance and customer service can do attitude. She was great! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at LocalStorage - 649 Parris Island Gateway include the following amenities: Drive-Up Access, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Unstaffed Location, Credit Cards Accepted and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
