Went to take a look at some units for an upcoming move and Laura was amazing to work with. She was very professional and answered all of my questions. She took me on a tour of the facility to view a couple sizes she recommended which were perfect for what I needed. I will be coming back here to store my items simply because of her customer service. ... Read more

Disappointed! I rented a small unit in April. It was clean. Prime gave me grief about my insurance policy not having "proper wording." My insurance agent explained the coverage in an email. So all was well. In August, my insurance renewed. I renewed the exact same policy, same policy number too. Prime would not accept it even though it was the exact same policy. They wouldn't even accept the explanation from the insurance agent as they did in April. The whole time I was being told that I would have to purchase their insurance. I even asked to sign a waiver. They would not budge. I moved my stuff out. When I did, there were mouse droppings in my unit. Disappointed! I will go back to UHaul. ... Read more

We've had a terrible experience. I rented with Cubesmart before, I should have never changed to Prime. They tossed us out for "living in the unit", just because we were in and out quite often since me and my boyfriend are living with friends until we find a bigger apartment together. Also, I admit I walked in with donuts that day only to pack them into sandwich bags and take them right back out, and I had a few non perishable sealed food items in there, that I thought were allowed, but I guess not. Not even a case of water. I didn't know, now I know. They never gave us a warning, terminated us only a few days into renting a bigger unit together, and gave us only 2 days to move our things. They even put an overlook on our storage! We never lived in there, we were just switching clothes for the next few days and sometimes waiting for the next bus or organizing our things so we can get it out easier once we find a bigger apartment. The way they treated us, I felt like we were unwanted street dogs to them. We are nice, clean, working professionals. Yes the donuts I get, shouldn't have done that. But they could have at least give us the 30 days to move out and give us a warning so I could take out my camping gear in time. We had a camping trip planned and since it was Saturday night when we found the overlock, we couldn't get back in until Monday and our camping place was paid for for Sunday. That sucked. Let me tell you, they say it's climate controlled, but it's hot in there. Especially the second or third floor. They only cool the first floor and only minimally. I had rented with Cubesmart before, and for even less money I got a nice big unit on the first floor and as soon as I walked in, the fan blew nice cold air on me! What a great feeling. The lights are prime storage are positioned so they don't shine into your unit. At Cubesmart, they have the lights positioned so you can also use them in your unit. The entrance doors at Prime never work. One night one of the automatic doors got stuck open, it was open the whole night! Not safe! And other times the codes don't work or only work at the door that's furthest away from your unit. Cubesmart - never any issues with doors. The staff at Prime was at least nice enough to leave my unit unlocked the last day to be able to take out my belongings in one day, all by myself, and some of the boxes were very heavy, especially the couch was a pain to move alone. The manager of the unit must be a really mean person, no consideration at all, he is terrible. Cubesmart has the absolute nicest people working there! They take care of you. Also, at Prime they have mice and they had them before we even moved in. They did have mousetraps everywhere when I moved in. Lots of people are moving out from Prime because they raise their rent every 2 months. We just needed some extra storage that's accessible any day so we could switch out clothes for the next few days until we find an apartment for ourselves. And we went back to Cubesmart since their customer service is top notch. And of course I'm not storing any food items in there, even if it's sealed and non perishable, and not walking in with donuts to switch them into bags ;-) So my advice, avoid Prime, go with CubeSmart, you won't regret it! ... Office personnel are awesome! Patient, knowledgeable and courteous. Facility is new so it's immaculate when it comes to cleanliness. Much less expensive than the other storage unit I had which had no climate control and had no lighting. My fingers would freeze before I could get what I needed lol. Not with Prime Storage. They have hallway lighting and it's maintained at about 50° which is quite comfortable when you need to look for things. Thank you Prime Storage!!! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Prime Storage (RI10) - 777 Providence Street include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Parking, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
