Kathleen is an asset to the business . Anxiety ridden about upcoming changes to my storage unit , she assured all would be taken care of . Kathleen moved swiftly and with efficiency. I was able to feel safe and enjoyed my day. I’d be willing to bet she was smiling during the entire phone call. Her warmth cheery nature had shone through. Thank you . Carla D. ... Read more

401 Storage is a very nice family owned company. Very secure, always clean and staff are always friendly. The way they have adapted to modern technology is also a big plus! If you have had the pleasure of meeting Katherine then you know she knows her stuff. Very helpful and very funny too! ... Read more

Absolute ease to get in and get set up! Katherine and Maddie did an amazing job. Walking me through the process and getting me in my unit in what felt like a blink of an eye. Unit was clean and ready for me to move in. Overall, would highly recommend 401 storage to anyone needing a spot to store a few things! ... Read more

This place was once called Stor Safe and run by a nice family that did things right. Most of the reviews are for them and definitely not the current owners. So please consider only the most recent reviews in deciding if you want to do business with them. When the new owners took over things changed. A few months went by and out of nowhere I get a threatening letter telling me to pay my rent or they'd auction off my very expensive RV. In fact, my spot was still paid for because I took advantage of paying less by paying 6 months in advance. I called them about it and I got attitude from the manager even though they were in the wrong. So here's the list of what they had wrong: 1. Our correct address. We were fortunate that our letter carrier is friendly with us and spotted this error. He delivered it to us because he recognized our name even though the address didn't match. Otherwise our RV might have been auctioned off without us even knowing. 2. They had the wrong phone number so we never got a call something was wrong. 3. They even had our storage spot wrong even though there's this GIANT RV sitting right in their own facility. 4. Of course they got our billing all messed up. So with all that they were denying all the obvious screw-ups by saying the Knight family had provided wrong information etc. Everything was blamed on the Knights. In fact the Knights had all our information correct and we never had a single problem with them over the years. The manager not only had an attitude but she couldn't admit they were wrong even when I provided records showing the Knights had it all right. How is she ever going to learn from her mistakes when she can't admit to making them? I found another storage facility. I can only guess that others had problems with them because the place was getting empty as other storage places were filling up. Pictures included to demonstrate this point. ... Read more

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 50 to 480 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by 401 Storage - 225 Cowesett Avenue start from $99 and can go up to $249 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
