I have been fortunate to have my boat at Clark's for over ten years and can recommend them very highly for their professionalism, caring and competence. The entire team is excellent and responsive. As a small business in a stressful environment, sometimes the demands on their time can be considerable. But in the end, everyone provides wonderful care and attention to all of our boating needs. We keep the boat on a mooring and then have it stored during the winter months. The launch service is excellent and the care taken toward servicing the boat and our needs is of the highest order. You are treated personally and professionally. I join many others in feeling fortunate to be a part of their family-owned business. ... Read more

Ideally located - south of the Newport Bridge facing Newport. We've moored our sailboat at the Clark Boatyard for six seasons. In our view, the Clark crew has earned five star ratings for every year. They are professionals who have launched and stored our vessel with care. They have consistently proved to be accommodating: easy to work with and responsive to every request. The Clark Boatyard projects a sense of family and has earned our strongest recommendation for anyone looking for a mooring on Narragansett Bay. ... Read more

Clark Boat Yard is a breath of fresh air in the marine industry. It is evident that the Clark family takes great care of your vessel. Service requests are honored in a timely fashion and repairs and maintenance are priced fairly. Launch service is reliable and convenient. The mooring field may get a little bumpy in a NE wind, but the views are spectacular! Thank you to the Clark family and crew for helping to make boat ownership enjoyable. ... Read more

The Clark family always goes above and beyond in a personal way. I went out to my mooring one day theis summer and a float had been added to my bridle. Lots of great little gracious and thoughtful things just happen Gary plowed out the boat ramp for just me so I could take my boat out early before having surgery. They are the best!!! ... Read more

Clark's is a Jamestown institution - fair prices and the facility offers everything you need - moorings, launch access, and easy parking. It's an old-school New England boatyard with smart updates and none of the hassle you find at corporate marinas. Highly recommended. ... Read more

I am launching my boat after being on hard for several years and have hauled it to Clarks for final prep and commissioning. They could not be more helpful, knowledgeable and user friendly. Unlike some other yards, this yard is not pretentious, snobby or exorbitant and I have had no issue doing the minor projects that I wanted to do myself. The common goal appears to be to get the boat in the water so the fun can begin. Other yards work at their own pace and schedule and make you feel like they are doing you a favor. Also, other folks are in the yard getting their boats ready and it is a friendly and helpful lot. This is the place for the recreational boater or cruiser. Thank you. ... Read more

"A superb yard, staffed with knowledgeable, honest people. They combine efficiency, quality of service and responsiveness in a way that I have never experienced with any other yard. Whatever the issue, it’s never a problem for these folks. And to top it off, everyone I’ve dealt with at Clark Boat Yard is incredibly friendly and pleasant to deal with; you feel like you are with family. I moor my boat in Newport harbor, but I make a point of sailing across the East Passage to Jamestown to store my boat and to have work done on it. I cannot recommend Clark Boat Yard strongly enough." -United Kingdom ... Read more

Charged my credit card without going over things and that's just the beginning. The woman in the office is rude and the place is a total dump. I doubt any of the positive reviews were written by the actual customers if they even exist. If you've ever wondered what happens to a neglected business run by incompetent and impolite people then look no further than this dung heap. If this place was a fraction as good as the amount of money they charged without authorization they would be doing something. I got into an argument with the woman who seems to be in charge of everything over an engine I didn't even have on my boat but was charged for 'service'. Awful people awful place. Don't believe a word of the hype or better yet - if you live in the area just take a drive thru. I nearly lost my suspension trying to deal with the potholes on their 'driveway'. To the positive reviewers- shame on you ... Read more

Looked at a boat at Clark's that was for sale by a private owner. The work the owner undertook was far over his head and beyond his ability. Bottom line, Sara and Gary Clark helped broker an arrangement, the vessel was not destroyed for scrap, I am salvaging and refitting the sloop, in my family tradition. I know that when the vessel is completed, it will make the Clark family proud. The Clark Boat Works is like being home for me, in that Dyer tradition, do it once do it right! "If you don't go here your nuts!" You can quote me! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Clark Boat Yard-Marine Works - 110 Racquet Road include the following amenities: Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Parking and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
