Extremely aggressive! I received two calls from different numbers within 2 minutes of reserving a unit so that I could pay with my credit card. Unfortunately, this was the wrong storage facility, but still thinking it was correct, I went ahead and rented because the man on the phone said it was the last one at the location. I was very hesitant to give him my information, but after some checking realized it was legit, just extremely aggressive. We discovered it was the wrong facility when we got there with the moving truck. The truck did not fit inside of there loading area, and the autodoor was broken. It cost me an extra $800 because they had to have one guy stay with the truck at all times due to the large number of homeless in the area. Then the other two would wait for the elevator, go up unload, wait again, come down and repeat. What should have taken 1-1 1/2 hours took 3 1/2 to 4 hours. The gal at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful, especially during a stressful time. ... Read more

Today I spoke with Liz, who was able to help me out with renting a smaller space on the same floor as my current unit. She was very helpful, friendly and professional. Overall my experiences with this facility have been excellent, which I can't say for all storage facilities! UPDATE: Stephanie helped me out with a third smaller unit this morning and was so patient and helpful through the entire process! Excellent customer service and so friendly. I truly appreciate the top-notch service at this facility and wanted to be sure to give her a shout-out! :) ... Read more

Continual rent increases!! My rent has doubled in less than a year. If you need storage and are willing to suffer through the bait and switch of continuous rent increases, the facility itself is alright. It offers decent security. It has a single elevator which moves slow so when it’s busy, plan on waiting a long time ... Read more

Watch out for the pricing trap. I’ve rented here twice now, and both times the monthly rate shot up just a few months after moving in. Even after downsizing to a smaller unit based on the staff’s suggestion that it would offer a better long-term rate the price jumped again not long after. I contacted management directly to resolve this, as suggested in their responses to other frustrated customers. That was almost 2 weeks ago and still no response. The front desk staff are incredibly kind but they have zero control over pricing, credits, or anything related to making things right when the company pulls moves like this, which seems designed to lure you in with a low rate and then jack it up once you’re settled. Judging by other reviews, I’m far from the only one this has happened to. If you’re thinking of renting here, just know the rate you’re quoted upfront is probably not the one you’ll be paying for long. ... Read more

My partner and I have had a storage unit here for the past 2 or 3 months. On our first visit the manager was super friendly and supportive and made us feel she would go the extra mile for us (as stated in previous reviews from other customers) if needed. Since I felt confident and supported i decided to call and ask if my code could allow me to come in later to put my storage stuff away since my partner doesn't get off till 6 and the building closes at 6. I called, began asking if that was possible and she very sternly said no and began explaining why so out of anxiety I did cut her off by mistake. I was confused about the situation after being told she could 100% do this for us just a month or two prior. My issue is not that it is not doable anymore, it was how rude she got with me and how she explained "I have a right not to put up with anyone's crap and you cut me off." As a regional manager of 5 dispensaries I understand the importance of security and keeping this safe especially with many valuable items at stake, but that does NOT give you the right to talk to your customers in such a manner. I took responsibility for cutting her off out of confusion NOT out of rudeness or attempting to be above the rules. There was no apology to me for the way she interacted with me. I then went physically into the building to get her managers email to discuss the issue since I obviously knew she was the manager and she still was rude and on the defense. As I left she tried to claim my name wasnt even on the unit when I told her my name was "Kayla" and she heard "carol" just goes to show more lack of attentiveness and care. I gave her my name and number that is already on file and expect to hear back from her manager but based on this interaction I am not confident she will relay the message so a review it is. She was very nice and helpful in the beginning but it seems the stress of "not having any break ins in a year" has caused her to forget how to appropriately communicate with customers. Also, one of the windows to the garage door had plywood over it for months and just got replaced but right above the replacement another got smashed. Please stop taking your frustration out on customers especially when you made them feel they can come to you. And again I apologize for cutting you off. Would have been stellar to get an apology for being disrespected rather than a defensive response. We are all human, don't forget that. On another hand, after being here for 3 months our rate did get doubled randomly. The fake kindness and random price hikes will be why we get a new storage. Don't waste your time renting here longer than 3 months or if you have a crazy outside life. They will not accommodate even if they say they will during the first interaction. ... Read more

I wanted to say thank you to the wonderful employee Sabrina for your attention and sensitivity to all the questions and problems of the client! I have been using your services for four years now, but for the first time I see such a responsible and attentive manager! At the same time, the price of rent is constantly changing. They lure with a cheap price, and then lift two or more times! There are always missing carts. ... Read more

Absolutely had it with this place. Every 2 to 3 months they massively increase rent by 70-100%.. We're not talking reasonable increments, we're talking double. Only option other than leaving is to wait for another posted price on website, reserve a new unit, and move units completely. Been there for 7 months and had them do this twice already. Other facts: 1) rates are better at other storage locations just blocks away, and guaranteed 2) They aren't 24hr access (Close at 6pm), unlike other storage locations just nearby 3) This place is constantly under issues from homeless population - broken entry doors, trash, etc.. If you live downtown, you might think this place is worth it for convenience -- think again. Just go 5 minutes further and save yourself a ton of hassle and money. Only bright light is the manager on site who is incredibly kind, but has no ability to override corporate pricing issues. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at SecureSpace Self Storage - 1323 NW 16th Avenue include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Security Camera, Gate, Kiosk Available, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 200 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by SecureSpace Self Storage - 1323 NW 16th Avenue start from $35 and can go up to $193 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
