Read some helpful reviews of A + Self Storage at 909 Illinois Avenue, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I post a question after the response below. How does completely dry you know that the insulation didn’t fail? You can’t even see up to the insulation through those tiny holes unless you caused more damage to the unit and ripped the white cover down. Which I know Andrea did not do, as I went into the unit days later after she “inspected it”. That’s what’s most upsetting about this entire situation, the amount of lies being feed. I have decided to come on and leave a 1 star review, after the area manager has been dodging my calls. I rented a storage unit and 2 parking spaces from A+ Storsge, well shortly after moving in someone backed into my unit damaging the roof and door. At the time I couldn’t even open the door. This happened sometime over the evening hours. Took them till 10am to contact me to let me know, I was told it would quickly be fixed, or at least so I could use it. June 1st I was told parts were in to repair the unit c and once the construction crew was done on Sylvania, we are now October 2nd and it’s still not repaired, mind you I’ve been paying full price every month for the unit, with no discount offered. So last month after being told rates were going up I decided to move out. Last weekend September 27th, we went to clean out the unit. At this time we went to love a pallet of salt bags all sealed, brand new, far back corner of the unit, away from the moister, well every bag got wet, and now hard as a rock. How? Because the roof now leaks due to the accident, and non repairs. I immediately reported this. Now managment is now dodging me after playing phone tag all week, and being told Andrea area manager would’ve available all day. I called 10am, and again at 650pm today to Oct 3rd with no response. She knows she needed to call me, left me a voice mail telling me she wanted to get this resolved and to call her today, at this point o am frustrated, angry, annoyed, irritated, oh an to make a bigger slap in the face, I got an email saying my bill is past due. After they know I’m moving out. Update: After talking to Andrea the local area manager and her feeding me the biggest lines of excuses and lies I’ve ever heard. They have refused to do anything for me. And apparently I was not allowed to be upset that the unit was not fixed and claimed that only certain companies nation wide to repair the units, because no local companies offer the material and services lol, and apparently said building materials turn colors when wet, or the insulation expands when wet, which there is no insulation in their ceiling I could see into the ceiling. . Lies lies lies! So I had to file with the insurance company I paid for this entire time to make this right since Jeff S. owner of Maumee Storage Development LLC located right in Sylvania Ohio, doesn’t care about his clients just how much money they spend with them. If I could give this place zero stars I would. This place is extremely disorganized, no one knows what they are doing, employees go out to do rounds and walk around on their cell phones, another leaves the front door unlocked while doing rounds x the claims she’s very through. Pictured below is from March 21, 2025, it’s now Oct 3, 2025. ... Read more

First time using A+ storage. I went with this business because of the amazing reviews. The online process to rent was very easy. I had to go in person to provide a copy of ID and SSN, it was quick paperwork. After the paperwork I received a free heavy duty lock w/ keys & my personal code. Upon entering I was greeted immediately and instantly felt welcomed. Staff had such good energy. Very helpful and honest! I was taken to see the storage! Again very secure&safe, very clean and easy to navigate. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND! It’s not too often you find FRIENDLY & PROFESSIONAL businesses. ... Read more

I'm starting off with 4 Stars since I haven't actually moved in yet. I selected this facility due to their overall reviews across multiple sites. I made my reservation online through SelfStorage.com. It was quick, risk free, and easy. I was only disappointed that this facility only allows you to hold the risk free reservation online for one day. But once I was in the office, it sounded like they can extend that once completing your contract. Their prices are reasonable, the site seems very secure, safe, and clean. Safe part of town. Haley, their front desk manager, I believe, was INCREDIBLY friendly and accommodating. She has fantastic customer service and genuinely seems to enjoy her job and care for her clients. I feel very pleased with my decision to rent here. Thank you Haley for everything! She deserves a raise!! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at A + Self Storage - 909 Illinois Avenue include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 540 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by A + Self Storage - 909 Illinois Avenue start from $41 and can go up to $272 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
