Read some helpful reviews of Extra Space Storage at 138 Harrison Avenue, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

Initially I was quite happy with the service, until they tried to put my rent up by a little over 50% with no warning! Only after I made a loud protest did they reluctantly agree to lower the raise to 35% - on this basis alone I would not recommend! ... Read more

10x20 went from $113 straight to $193 after about 3 months. Need I say more? They wait for you to completely fill the unit then nearly double the price while its incredibly inconvenient to move everything back out I will be though because this is way over market. Its no wonder half of the units are vacant. ... Read more

This review is about Extra Space as a corporation. It is not directed at the individuals that work at this facility, all of whom tried to be helpful. This corporation uses predatory practices to bait consumers in the door, offering exceptionally low rates at the start but later dramatically increasing those rates past fair market pricing. I'll provide my experience as an example. Searching other reviews, I can see I'm not the only one that's had a similar experience. I was a customer of Extra Space for 3+ years in total. In total, I ended up renting 3 units from them - two 10x15s and a 10x20. In all 3 cases, these were offered at low introductory rates with an increase in rent after some period of time, typically 3-5 months. I would not have an issue with this, as the intro rates were well below market pricing, but in every case where an increase was applied, the new rate was well above market pricing, and I would have to visit the office to question why. This in and of itself is predatory, as the corporate office is clearly hoping renters won't question the rate and will just pay the new overinflated price. This pattern repeated multiple times across all of my units over the course of my 3 years renting there. The change that finally prompted me to look elsewhere for my needs occurred this August 2025. My two 10x15 units were billing at different rates, with one at $91/mo on promo pricing and the other at $118/mo (not promo priced). I fully expected to see cheaper unit increase in price to match the non-promo priced unit, as this would be reasonable and that price is on par with the rates of other storage providers in my area. However, when I received the rate change notification, I was advised the cheaper 10x15 would be increasing to $165/mo! This is the going rate for 10x30 unit! I contacted the local office and staff on site was not able to adjust this price, so I reached out to the corporate office via phone. They refused to adjust this price and expected me to pay the additional ~35% markup on the second unit, providing NO justification for the dramatically higher price of one over the other. Customer service on the phone also clearly stated Extra Space's preference for "short-term" renters over those who stay put. It's worth noting that in my 3+ years renting here, I never had a late or missed payment. I never caused any trouble or drama at the facility. I never mistreated staff on site, even when I had to wait over an hour for someone to come address a broken gate at the facility. This corporation cares not at all about its customers, and they are clearly only interested in your money. Renters should steer clear of this company entirely, at this location and all of them across the country. ... Read more

Hey, I just wanted to share my experience with this storage place; they're seriously awesome! I've been using them for a while now, and I've never had any issues whatsoever. My stuff always feels safe and secure, which is a huge relief. They have a bunch of different sized units, so you can definitely find one that fits your needs. Plus, the prices are pretty competitive, and you won't break the bank. Honestly, the location is super convenient; getting in and out is a breeze. If you're looking for a good storage spot, I highly recommend checking them out; you won't regret it! ... Read more

Outstanding Service from Kim I want to take a moment to recognize Kim for the incredible customer service she provides. From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with a kind and friendly attitude that immediately made me feel welcome. Kim goes above and beyond—she doesn’t just do her job, she genuinely cares about the people she helps. She has a big heart, and it shows in everything she does. In a world where good service is getting harder to find, Kim is a true standout. Space Storage is lucky to have her. If every location had more employees like Kim, they’d all be five-star rated. Thank you, Kim, for making my experience exceptional. You’re the reason I’ll continue doing business here. —Gerrod A. ... Read more

Zero experience renting a storage unit, the man in the office was extremely helpful by showing me in person the different sizes so that I can figure out exactly what I needed. The paperwork process took just a couple minutes and I had my storage unit in the same day ... Read more

I can not even begin to explain how kind everyone was, between online questions, phone calls, and in person. I was very anxious about renting because just a week before I was ripped off by a different company. These people reassured me and made sure I was 100% comfortable and understood everything. The property is very well maintained, and secured. They make sure your stuff is safe. They are by far the LEAST expensive around. 10/10 I will recommend them ... Read more

UPDATE ~ As of Feb 2025, Went to unit to start my car and take it for a spin since I hadn’t been out in 62 days. Unfortunately, when I got to this location, I couldn’t get into my unit. The handle and bottom of unit door was covered with about 6” of ice and snow!! ???? A friend of mine helped out, thankfully!! ???? He had a plastic snow shovel, a metal snow shovel and an ice pick in his SUV! The plastic shovel could not get the job done. He had to use the ice pick and metal shovel to clear the snow and ice away from in front of the unit door. It took about 15 minutes. It was a pain in the a$$!!! My car is a low profile car so every bit of the snow and ice had to be cleared away, otherwise I wasn’t going to be able to get my car out or back inside. The picture I posted was after 5 minutes of working to clear the snow and ice away. The new person who works there, Mark, was not on the premises. I got there a few minutes after 12 noon and he already had a sign on the office door that he wasn’t returning until 2 PM. I don’t know what I would’ve done if I couldn’t get a hold of my friend to help get my unit opened. Even if I had a shovel and an ice pick myself, I could not have possibly cleared that mess up because I’m still recovering from a T7 fracture in my back!! I don’t know what this company expects from renters in this situation. Anyone renting a unit from this location should be aware that you may or may not get into your unit if it has recently snowed and iced over, unless you have the strength and proper tools to get yourself in. Also, while walking back to my friend’s SUV, he noticed a 3 inch screw on the pavement in front of my unit and I picked up a 3 inch nail. Luckily, I didn’t drive over them when I took my car out of the unit or when I drove it back inside!! My car will stay in storage for another two months and I hope I don’t run into this situation the next time I go there… Original review from Dec 2024 was 5?? when I dealt with Harley, who was marvelous!!!… I was looking for an indoor space to store my BMW for the winter and came across this business on the internet. I’ve been dealing with Harley, who is very friendly, extremely professional and has the patience of a saint!! He is responsible for 2 storage locations in the Glens Falls area. He’s extremely busy but handles it all like a PRO!! I got lucky this past weekend when I contacted him!! He provided exceptional care to me. He researched, explained & reserved the appropriate type of unit I needed to store my low profile vehicle inside. He took his time explaining all the details to me, got me a nice unit, and processed my payment accordingly. When I stored my car earlier today, this location was super busy, but he took excellent care of everyone and everything with a smile!! It’s a pleasure doing business with him!! If you’re in need of a place to store your possessions or a vehicle, give Extra Space Storage a call and ask for Harley!! I’m so glad I did!! ???? WTG, Harley!! ?????? (I forgot to take pics/video because there was a mini snow blizzard going on, when I was there, but will next time.) ... Read more

Excellent customer service. Needed to arrange vacating a long-term rental there - and Harley was professional, courteous and very accommodating in getting the job done quickly. He even called me back and texted multiple times to keep me up to date on the process. Rare to find such hands-on service these days! ... Read more

TERRIBLE PLACE TO RENT STORAGE UNITS FROM! Management has changed more times than one would change their underwear! They rip you off with rental insurance ( Even though your renters insurance from your apartments cover items in storage, we were charged extra money for additional insurance we DID NOT need, we paid thousands extra per year for insurance we were told was mandatory and wasn’t) AND jumped our rent up $40 extra dollars in less than 6 mos. Each manager told us different “ rules” and we moved out 7 days after first of month and they would not reimburse us for the rest of month because we didn’t tell them on the 1st. There is NO security, gate does not lock and facility is left wide open 24/7 Management is rarely available, they left around 1pm and before we could talk to them, they left a sign “ be back at 4pm”, I went back at 4:17PM and still no one there, after they had been gone for HOURS! Terrible customer service, terrible place to rent from! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Extra Space Storage - 138 Harrison Avenue include the following amenities: Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 400 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Extra Space Storage - 138 Harrison Avenue start from $31 and can go up to $185 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
