We had such a great experience working with O’neil! From the moment we arrived, he was friendly, professional, and incredibly patient. He took the time to show us several different storage units, making sure we understood all of our options and never making us feel rushed. O’neil thoroughly explained the differences in sizing and pricing, breaking everything down in a way that was easy to understand. He answered all of our questions with kindness and made sure we felt confident in our decision. His knowledge and attention to detail really stood out. Thanks to his help, we found the perfect storage unit for our needs. The whole process was smooth and stress-free because of his professionalism and positive attitude. ... Read more

I’ve had consistently great experiences at Manhattan Mini Storage at the East 21st Street, largely because of Shaniah and Johnny in the office. They are genuinely helpful, knowledgeable, and patient every time I interact with them. When I was shopping for a unit they made the whole process straightforward and human instead of transactional. They take the time to explain options clearly and answer questions. Give them both a raise!! ... Read more

We had an excellent experience at this storage space. The facility is well organized, clean, easy to access, and very secure. The staff has always been kind and willing to help, but today Johnny truly went the extra mile by helping us move some Christmas decorations into our storage unit. We are very grateful for his support and professionalism. Highly recommend this place for both the quality of the facility and the outstanding customer service. ... Read more

I LOVE THR STAFF SO MUCH!! Let’s talk about an amazing customer experience. Shout out to Shaniah, who helped upgrade me to a larger unit when the first one I booked was too small. Didn’t have to pay too much more! ... Read more

Johnny was the best person I could've asked for moving in all my stuff for the college summer break, super attentive and accomodating and worked with me to make my move work. I hope management recognizes him as one of their best workers. My experience with Manhattan Mini Storage has been great so far––a star was taken off due to the fact that I was randomly assigned a top storage unit and said unit had several obstructions inside. For anyone considering this, make sure to go in person and choose a unit. ... Read more

I needed a place to store my things while moving. This is NOT the place for short term storage. It’s set up to take advantage of people in this or similar situation. As others have stated BEWARE the hidden fees. When you arrive, expect a $30 move in add-on. I brought my own lock, only to discover they intentionally only lock with a specific uncommon cylindrical lock. But don’t worry, they’ll sell you a five dollar lock for $18. As a final surprise, when you receive your next month’s bill you’ll see a $24.97 per month “Value Protection” fee appear. This is a pretty smooth grift actually. They “waive” the first month’s fee so you don’t notice it initially. When you get your next bill and ask about it, they show you buried in your rental agreement that it’s mandatory, and you initially had 48 hrs to opt out which has long past. You will not be told any of this when speaking to them, or during the initial sign up in person or online. So you’re annoyed and want to cancel so you can opt out? You’re in for another $30 unexplained admin fee. But hey, you’ll have a worthless lock when all done! If you’re considering it for longer term, come prepared with a cylinder lock, and a cheap rental insurance policy you can get for a few bucks a month literally anywhere else. ... Read more

Terrible customer care, especially via phone. There is so much miscommunication. They increased rent double without any notice, and when you call to ask why, they will give you nonsense explanations. Business hours are very limiting as well. I'm extremely disappointed..the only star goes for location but not worthy to do business one problem leading to another they seem not professional at all in two months I had to sign contract twice because they lost my information. ... Everyone we dealt with was extremely helpful. The facility was clean and easy to get to. It is climate controlled, has elevators and equipment available to help make the move easier. We moved everything out of our storage unit and the next day, received a phone call letting us know that they noticed our unit was not locked so they opened it and noticed it was empty. They called to verify that everything was ok. I like knowing that they were paying attention and making sure our stuff was safe. Would totally use them again! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Manhattan Mini Storage - 41 East 21st Street include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Keyless Unit Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
