Organizing my small LES apartment and realized I have soooo much stuff I want to go through, keep, throw out etc. figured moving stuff to storage and outta my way would be a great start to decluttering. The 2nd Avenue location is very close to home and Vanessa helped get my rental processed very quickly. Excited to get my life in order!! ... Read more

Just rented a storage unit but not moving in until next month. Emily helped me with the process. She explained the different charges like insurance & processing fee (if you are paying with a credit card). Appreciate the clarity so there will be no surprises. Hoping for a smooth move in process next month. ... Read more

Arrived at 7:50 to store a few items and open new storage unit. I understand the store closes at 8pm. For some reason it took Michael, the front desk worker, ten minutes to fill out the form for me to start a new storage unit. By the time he was finished typing my information, he asked for payment. Because I’ve been traveling a lot, My card had a fraud alert so it declined the first time. He proceeded to then tell me because it was now 8:01 pm, he could not let me into the storage unit and that I had to leave the property. Why does it take 11 minutes to type in a name, address and phone number to open a storage unit? If Michael knew that the facility closes at 8:00pm and that he is not able to get into the storage facility doors after 8:00pm, why wouldn’t he have: A) communicated that rule with me at the beginning of the transaction; B) worked faster so that we could secure the unit before the cut-off time; C) simply said, before starting the ten minute waste of time transaction, “hey this will take a while and we only have ten minutes, it’s best if you come back tomorrow.” Rather than doing any of these things, time was wasted with pointless, slow data entry leaving me no other choice than to go elsewhere. ... The Manhattan Mini Storage facility is clean, bright, modern, and convenient. It is easy to access and operates 7 days a week from 8AM to 8PM. They have units ranging from $140/mo to $1000+. Vanessa at the front desk is able to provide a quick tour and overview of the lease signing, which is available month-to-month. ... Read more

Security is a farce. I have heard of thefts in the building, and the locks are weak. Cameras do not function correctly. I had the constant feeling that my possessions were in danger. I would not put anything of value in this place. ... Read more

Everyone I interacted with in person was patient, kind and knowledgeable. I have used a lot of storage companies over the years, this was by far the easiest, most cost effective way for me to store mostly clothes, shoes, books, yoga mat, camping tent and prized goods taking up space in a studio quickly and efficiently. I completed the shift using lyfts (rideshare) and a dolly and although not ideal, I was proud of mySelf and grateful for the support of the laborers at the east village Manhattan mini storage. Thank you. ... Read more

28 2nd ave. I just got off a plane at JFK, I come in to the storage office and immediately I meet the most important person since Joe Biden. She’s probably a wonderful woman and maybe was quite busy. Hopefully the owner doesn’t know how discourteous the office woman is to potential customers. All the same, all the best. Negative stars and I am not being mean, just a reflection of the customer service which apparently did not value my business. God bless you. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Manhattan Mini Storage - 28 2nd Avenue include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Security Camera, Credit Cards Accepted, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
