Read some helpful reviews of modSTORAGE at 47-30 29th Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

There’s Public Storage, and then there’s personal storage—and that difference is exactly what sets modSTORAGE apart. I’ve rented at this particular location for several years and it was recently taken over by modSTORAGE. Since then, the improvements have been substantial: the facility is newly renovated with brand-new elevators, offers true 24/7 access, and the units themselves are now fully digital—no padlocks, no keys, no combinations to remember. One particularly thoughtful feature is the ability to open the main garage bay doors directly from your car so you can drive inside, making loading and unloading easy regardless of the weather. As strong as the upgrades and technology are, they’re not what ultimately set modSTORAGE apart. The real difference is the personal involvement of the new owner, Jared. You’ll often see him walking around the facility making various improvements, and always with a smile. He’s quick to say hello and chances are he’ll even remember your name.??He’ll also always tell you if there’s ever an issue, he wants to know about it. I experienced that help firsthand. I currently rent two large units (a 10×18 and a 10×15), which I’ve had for several years. As part of a promotion and loyalty incentive, I was given an excellent rate for a guaranteed term. When that term ended, my rate increased by nearly $160 per month—almost $2,000 per year. Needless to say I was not happy. Remembering what Jared said about reaching out, I decided to take him up on that and asked if anything could be done. He informed me while rates were set by corporate, give him time and he’d see what he could do.??Sure enough, less than 24 hours later, he called back and said “I was able to get them to reduce your rate by almost $100 a month and that should be good for the next four to six months.” That level of advocacy and follow-through is rare in any industry, let alone public storage. It demonstrated integrity and a genuine commitment to customers that makes me happy to remain a modSTORAGE customer to this day. Thanks, Jared! ... Read more

I have been to three facilities that say they are “24-hour access” and it is just not true. But modstorage actually is, no gimmicks and no extra costs ! There price is also solid. I always see cool new features and tech being added. The touch locks also let me sleep stress free knowing nobody is going to break in :). They also have a lot of moving material and U-Haul trucks. It’s overall a great local self storage that aren’t a greedy corporate money pig unlike the other big guys ( who would rent wise me like crazy !). ... Read more

This place actually does beat out most of the fair market rates of what storage units cost, and the 24-hour access quite literally makes all the difference. If you find yourself in need of a solid, safe, 24-hour unit you should definitely ask for James (Business Developer) and he’ll really solid care of you. ... Read more

Update 08/04- 4 months into my contract: Unfortunately I am changing my review because on my 4th month, with no explanation as to why, they changed the price of my unit from $69.99 to $109.99– I tried calling and was told to reach out to corporate. I emailed and am waiting for a response. A $40 change of price overnight is not good business. One of the easiest and most easy to work with I’m extremely content with the ease-of-use systems they’ve put in place. The app access to unlock all doors, including your storage unit makes it easy for 24/7 convenient access to your belongings, which is not something I’ve seen done before. I’d happily recommend this to anyone. ... Read more

They painted around my unit, the paint dust landed on my furniture and damaged it. I had bought their protection plan so I wasn’t too worried and requested a claim after moving my furniture out. They then proceeded to close my account and said I had moved out and started ignoring my emails and calls. I got a hold of “James Rice” once and he tried to gaslight me saying there wasn’t paint dust. I told him I had pictures and sent them, after that they’ve been ignoring my emails. They stole my insurance payments since they refused to accept a claim for my damaged furniture. ... Read more

WARNING: HIDDEN FEES rents are $10/month more than they say since they decide to charge you for their lock system that you didn't ask for and can't opt out of! another vendor could decide to charge you for the elevator or the lights. These are really their cost of doing business. They didn’t have to use a complex access system and I would’ve been happy to just bring my own padlock for $10 instead of paying $120 a year! Also note that some of the units have columns, taking up much of the space so check before you finalize your selection. Otherwise: Good prices, brand, new facility, very friendly and useful attendant, 24 seven access (though the contract says • "may access the facility between 9am and 6pm M-Sat; 9am-4pm Sun." • Monthly $10 free: "TECH ACCES S (“modLOCK”) modSTORAGE is keyless! ... There will be a $10 monthly charge for access." ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at modSTORAGE - 47-30 29th Street include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 20 to 200 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by modSTORAGE - 47-30 29th Street start from $15 and can go up to $450 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
