Where to begin. I posted a bad review in October for my experience at West Babylon NY location. A district manager named Luke called me to discuss and said he’d like to try to make things right and give me a refund back for my last month if I took the bad review down. Which I did. My sister posted a good review instead. As of today January 8, 2026 I haven’t received a check. I have called many times to advise I have not received a check. Apparently incompetence is Public Storages middle name all around. My bad experience was I closed out my account and had my last boxes in my car exiting the facility in West Babylon, NY. I kept entering my code to exit and gate would not recognize it and open. We tried calling, texting, doing everything gate instructions and online suggested. We were LOCKED IN. My sister went to try to see if any employee was in facility. No one was but finally with blowing horn and continuous calling and shouting Nicole came. We told her we were locked in and she told us we were not and stop shouting!. She advised we cancelled so code no longer valid but no one told us that previously and how were we supposed to exit ( fly over the gate)? She was extremely rude and condescending. I would be warned that customer service is very poor all around here. I strongly suggest you try Cube Smart. ... Read more

Meredith gave us great service and went out of her way to make sure our stuff in storage would fit. We thank her for commitment to customers and service. I could have closed and moved my unit closer to my complex and decided to stay for her great personality and knowledge. In this day and age good service hard to find! Thank you!! ... Read more

Public Storage’s business practices are completely deceptive and predatory. I scheduled an appointment for a large unit and was quoted a price over the phone. When I arrived to sign the paperwork, they suddenly told me the price had increased—after I showed up and was ready to sign. Only after pushing back did they reluctantly honor the original rate. That should have been my red flag. Just three months later, they jacked up my rent by over $100 without warning. I was told a request could be submitted to keep my rent the same until September, which they claimed was “approved”—but the rate was still higher than what I was already paying. I spent two weeks trying to speak with a manager, and during that time, I continued to pay the rate I originally agreed to, on time. While waiting for a call back that never came, they locked me out of my unit and told me I wouldn’t get access again until I paid the full inflated amount. I had no choice but to pay just to get my things—and even then, it still took days to get a manager on the phone. Their customer service is the worst I’ve ever dealt with. The front desk staff is clueless and completely unhelpful. Managers never return calls. When you finally get one on the phone, they pass the buck and say they need to speak to their manager—then you never hear from them again. No accountability. No transparency. Just a complete lack of professionalism across the board. This company clearly relies on dishonest bait-and-switch tactics and hopes customers will just roll over and pay more. Their total disregard for fair business practices and customer communication is infuriating. I will never use Public Storage again and will warn everyone I know to stay far away. ... Read more

First time getting a storage unit, and I’m so glad I chose this location. Meredith is an absolute asset to Public Storage! She explained everything thoroughly, answered all our questions with patience, and even shared a bit of the company’s history, which was a nice touch. She made the whole process easy and pleasant. Truly a pleasure to work with. ... Read more

So lucky to have found this place. The manager, Meredith is awesome, efficient, professional, friendly, and so helpful in my needs. We took an extra unit at this storage space for these reasons. I’ve had bad experiences at other storage places, and I feel like I’ve struck gold with this one. Reasonable prices, clean, and Meredith is excellent. ... Read more

After a huge and stressful move, Meredith made the process for us so seamless and smooth. She was quick and efficient in getting us in, and her professionalism, friendliness, and empathy made us feel so much better even while in the midst of a very stressful moving process. Nonetheless, the facility itself is clean and easy to navigate, and the prices are unbeatable. Meredith was also so quick in helping me with any issues I was having, and was so patient and kind—we are so grateful for her. She truly makes our experience at Public Storage a fantastic one!! ... This place used to be simply storage and it was great. Since public took it over, there’s been mice infestations that they cannot control. My unit was full of droppings and all they would do was put down more traps. There’s traps everywhere. On the second floor wheee my unit was I found numerous dead rodents in traps The staff is inattentive and never there. The carts are now chained to a pole in the main entrance and there’s no way to unlock them unless a staff member is there, which apparently on Saturdays they get there at 11, but the place opens at 9am. They also increased my rate 3 times in a year. Never using public storage again. ... Read more

I hadn't been to my storage facility in several months. When I finally saw it, everything was covered in rat droppings. The guy at the front desk offered me a broom. I called management, and they told me I could move to another locker and file for insurance, no other assistance. They constantly increase price at dramatic rates. It's a game where you have to cancel and then sign up for a new locker to get a lower rate. I do not recommend that you use this facility. ... Read more

I feel scammed by this company. They offered a Halloween special. $83 per month. They said we were going to keep that rate for as long as we kept the Unit. It was explained exactly like that. We paid initial fees and everything after ONLY 2 months they are increasing from $83 to $125. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 1070 Route 109 include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 1070 Route 109 start from $54 and can go up to $567 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
