PRIME Storage in Latham is top notch!! The rental process was smooth and reasonably priced. The unit was clean and our contents remained secure. I found the interactive kiosk to communicate with staff person to be impressive! ... Read more

I inquired about storing a vehicle at this facility over the phone. The conversation was cordial, but the representative Brendan was unable to convey a description of how the vehicle is stored at the facility as well as after hours access. He hung up out of frustration. I'll take my business to one of the many other facilities in the area. ... Read more

My daughters comforter was unusable even by being in a sturdy black garbage bag. By mice eating through the bag and her comforter. Suggestion put everything in bins. Secondly, we we were charged $40 a month which began December, in 2 months without warning the cost increased to $67.00 a month. 2 months later it increased to $83.00 without warning again. I have used many storage unit services in the past I have always received a notice that in 30 days or 60 days or 6 months there will be an increase for your storage space. Nothing - just the increase. My daughter had to set this up on her own so she was bamboozled. I paid direct debit monthly. When I called to ask, why the unexpected increases, the young lady had no reassuring answer to why it increased without warning. Nada. Blank. I asked for a manager to call back - I never received a return call. I hope in future they do not fool other college students. This is a warning. ... Read more

Scam, Scam, Scam. From the day you are browsing their website till you go the office and talk to someone either physically or on their screen is all Lie and scams. Be aware. I had to bring my son who was sick to get couple of his belongings that is very important to him. Even though that they charged whatever the price they wanted but, they still won't let you enter after three business days... no humanity and I am very disappointed ?? ... Read more

I must say. The reviews here are spot on with regard to Prime Storage incurring charges at a moment's notice. I just moved my small 1 bedroom apt into a 10×10 unit in December 2024. Starting February 2025, my unit charge is going from $150 to $200 a month. Given that this facility was recommended to me by the movers that I hired, I can't help but think what other nefarious activities this facility or companies may be up to. There seems to be a pattern. And since I spoke to multiple other storage businesses who charge half the amount you do, I would like to request your justification on the price increases. ... Read more

Unit is sufficient for what is does. Older place, doors are slightly rusty and hard to move at times. I will be moving in January as they have decided to raise the cost of the unit per month over $100. ... Read more

Incredibly rude customer service on the phone with my mother with no good explanation as to why her rates were raised a ridiculous amount after just 2 months. Rates should absolutely be locked in for a reasonable amount of time and price. Seems like they just make numbers up in their head to get more money from people, knowing they most likely aren’t around/able to come move their stuff out of their facilities and are forced to pay the increase. Based on all of the other reviews, it seems that this is what they do to everyone. This facility should care more about having happy customers who will help them get more business instead of stealing peoples money for no good reason! Do better prime storage!! ... Read more

When I first rented this unit it was reasonably priced they keep raising it with no changes happening - I asked why my same size unit is listed for $25 less online and if I could just switch to that same size unit for the less price. I was told that’s a “special new unit online price and they will just raise it after 3 months anyway”. Plus this month there was an ‘insurance increase’ and I’m paying $5 more for than I was last month. You can find a better unit with more consistent pricing than here. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Prime Storage (NY32) - 724 Watervliet Shaker Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, First Floor Access and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 400 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Prime Storage (NY32) - 724 Watervliet Shaker Road start from $75 and can go up to $594 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
