I've had a storage unit at this facility for many decades. It is a clean, secure, well run operation. I especially like the keyless gate entry upgrade. Recently I had an issue with my bill. I called and left a message on their machine. Soon the facilities manager Dan called me back and left a message something to the affect, "I received your message and assumed you were calling regarding..." Not only did he get back to me, but he had already resolved my issue without me having to explain what I needed. last week, I was unloading a car load of stuff at my unit when I saw Dan trying to help the man who was renting the unit next to mine. The light above his unit had stopped working. He's a very hands on facilities manager and I always see him helping a customer or doing something to maintain the premises. He runs a nice operation and he's a good guy!! ... Read more

Great place. Staff is pretty good too. All and all excellent for a storage facility. It is in an interesting neighborhood between rich people and middle class. There's a shopping center right across the street. It's gated and you can use an app to unlock the gates to get in and out. ... Read more

Horrible. I have a unit at the Hicksville NY location. There is never anyone in the office. I can never get a dolly and end up having to carry items one by one making 20 trips. I tried calling their customer service and you can't get anyone live. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION ... Read more

Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 200 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 40 East Old Country Road start from $74 and can go up to $412 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
