I really wish this facility would follow there own access hours. They close the facility earlier than posted. Your code will work bur gate won't open at least 15 minutes before the posted time. I literally need 2 minutes to grab my item and turn around. It is quite simple if the facility closes at 4pm allow people into the facility until the advertised time at which point all access stops. Anyone in already has 15 minutes maximum to leave. Anyone still in at 30 minutes after will incur a fee of 100 dollars and increasing from there. Employees are on the clock until 30 minutes or 45 minutes after the advertised access period. ... Read more

The facility is great. We worked with Charles H., who made the entire process so easy. He gave us a tour, answered all our questions in a friendly manner, and helped us complete the paperwork. The price was right, and we’re glad we chose this place. We also spoke with someone named Ted on the phone, who scheduled our appointment to see the building. Overall, the entire process couldn’t have gone more smoothly. ... Read more

Extra Space Storage: Constant Rate Hikes with No Added Value I have been renting a unit at Extra Space Storage since 2022, and every year without fail, they have increased my rates—this time by as much as $50 extra per month. Their justification? They claim that as a month-to-month rental provider, rates are reviewed and adjusted based on “current market conditions or other considerations.” But let’s be honest—this is just another way of saying they’ll raise prices whenever they feel like it, with no additional benefits to the customer. In today’s economy, where people are already struggling to keep up with rising costs, it’s frustrating that a storage company sees fit to continually increase prices. And what do customers get in return? Nothing. No upgraded security, no added perks—just a higher bill. The irony is that if customers get fed up and leave, wouldn’t that be more harmful to Extra Space Storage in the long run? A smarter business approach would be to keep rates reasonable, ensuring long-term customer retention instead of pricing people out. The only positives I can note are that the facility is clean (so far), and the staff is friendly, but unfortunately, that doesn’t justify the constant price hikes. If you're considering renting here, be prepared for unexpected increases year after year. Oh - they will probably say something like let's discuss or something but discussion should come if they only decide to discount my rental space. ... Read more

Two words to describe WHY Extra Space Storage is great: Kaleb Wilson. Today, Kaleb took the time with tremendous patience to help my elderly father with a storage unit. What a wonderful customer experience we had. We highly recommend working with Kaleb for any storage needs as he was incredibly kind and professional through the process. The site itself is very clean, safe, and well-maintained. To Extra Space Storage - please give Kaleb a promotion and raise. He deserves all the employee recognition and appreciation you can provide! ... Read more

Edit: went from $54 to $80 in less than 3 months. They didn’t even try to negotiate or bring price down. The guy on the phone just said that every storage place does that. 2 weeks later I come in to close the account and I was given the option to move to a smaller unit that you would need a ladder to get to, so I chose that for much less. Must be tall to use ladder. Great customer service! Charles was such a great help, didn’t mind showing me different units. Very appreciate to both him and Dimitri at the front desk. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Manhattan Mini Storage - 34-09 College Point Blvd include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
