Black mold and wet plaster storage outside. Smell is awful. Paid online on a Friday, came to view it Monday, they kept part of the money. There is no way I could have used that 'storage'. Just a disgusting experience. *edit* as I see the reply is to 'contact them' Of course I did contact them. I had never even moved in, I booked and paid online on a Friday and came Monday. Looked at 2 empty units that were both black mold and wet. They would only give me a PARTIAL refund, even though they knew I wasn't moving in until Monday. Waited over a week for partial refund for a storage I never used. ... Read more

I've been a tenant with Nickel City for a few years now I own an asset recovery business a used car dealer and auto repair facility night time I'm usually looking for repossessions or waiting for road service calls accident cleanups so I'm most likely going to be on Cambria Street either doing something in the shop or cleaning up outside I've done a lot of things no tenant will do like confront thieves trying to break into units I hate it thief and a liar I won't put up with that and I'm sure the extra security on the premises should be much more appreciated by the owner the tenants always thank me. Lately the Buffalo police have been called to the property as somebody's calling with false accusations and filing false reports the website States 24-hour access how am I being threatened to be arrested for trespassing. I have made the Buffalo and Cheektowaga police aware of the false accusation calls wasting officers time when they could be out saving somebody's life. I was just made aware the detectives are looking a little deeper into this as it's been annoying the officers. ... Read more

DO NOT RENT HERE!! Last night ( 4th of July) at 6:44 pm I received a message from Brittany that there had been an “incident” with my storage unit and to call her. It’s so hard to ever get anyone to answer calls from them. So I waited… The “incident” was that someone broke into mine and 7-8 other units YESTERDAY. I was so angry because they waited more than 24 hours to call me and Brittany was so nonchalant about my belongings being not secure for who knows how long. She just said - go check it, see what’s missing and did you get insurance?!? Then call the insurance company and file a claim. WTAF?!? No- I am sorry, no to them ever contacting the police, no good answer for why they waited so long to call me, and then I asked when employees are on premises- she said the manager “tries” to check in once a week. What?!? When I told her I wanted to talk to the manager or owner she said someone would call me the following day. The scumbags that broke into it cut the main latch so you couldn’t even secure it. This ruined our holiday because we had to leave a celebration and my child had to witness the destruction and theft of my late mother’s antiques, pictures, and other personal effects. My mother passed in October and I rented this storage in good faith that her/my belongings were protected. The thieves had plenty of time to go through each & every single box and steal things that are irreplaceable. My daughter cried all night after seeing pictures of her Gramma thrown on the ground like they were trash. So far, $7000 worth of irreplaceable antiques and personal items ( family grandfather’s clock, vintage Disney coin collection - that my mother collected for years) are gone forever. We were there for hours and hours last night waiting for the police and trying to secure the unsecureable. Will the owner pay me another $600 to move my belongings out of there?!? All of this costs so much money and I am just sick right now. While we were there we talked to four other renters that got the same call. I walked through the business and took tons of pictures of so many other units that had faulty locks, hinges or had been broken into. When I began renting there, I was told that I would be given a key to the unit’s door, which when I moved my stuff in - found out that was not true and had to hurry and buy a lock while my belongings sat unsecure. So there is NO back up security if the thieves, cut your locks. NONE! So now is the waiting game to see IF I will get a call from the manager and see if their camera system works and how they plan on doing. It’s great that the owner is not even a NY resident, but just collects fees and does not fulfill their end of the deal by securing the units at all. DO NOT RENT FROM THERE!! What a nightmare. Thanks to the new owner for never updating a thing or adding any additional security to your facility. From all the negative reviews - this has been going on for a very long time. I wish I would have checked these before moving my belongings in! ... Read more

Been renting from this company for about 5-6 years with the original owner nothing ever went wrong or stolen. He was very hands on. Ever since these new owners have took over the property, My unit has been burglarized, over $6000 worth of stuff in my unit that has been stolen! I can’t get anyone on the phone. There is representatives that pick up the phone without out of state numbers from all different kind of area codes , very unprofessional. You can’t get an owner on the phone or a corporate number . I’m filing a police report and I’m taking them to court. Do not rent a storage unit from this company! ... Read more

Since this company changed Ownership they are by far the worst. Getting somebody to answer the phone is impossible if you have questions or problems. The rent has gone up consistently every couple month since the new ownership. In the winter good luck with getting in there because they do not take care of their snow removal well at all. And last off if you happen to be late and get locked out of your unit they will give you a song and dance for 20 days then tell you oh here is the combination for the lock, like don't you think that would have been a smart thought on day one! ... Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 35 to 200 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Nickel City Mini-Storage - 160 Cambria Street start from $79 and can go up to $165 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
