Read some helpful reviews of Safeguard Self Storage at 930 Grand Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

We went there at 2:00 during office hours, they said they'd be back at 2:30, we went again at 2:35, they literally just moved the analog clock image to 3:00 and we're unreachable and still closed. We called customer support and they said they couldn't reach the person on shift here ... Read more

Very clean storage units and well maintained. The parking in the back is very convenient and there’s not really many storage units in the area that are as good as this place. Giving it 3 stars because the guy at the front is very unprofessional. When I first came in to get my keys, he was eating his lunch and didn’t want to open the door. He was visibility upset and didn’t say welcome in or ask me my name. He said “this always happens when I eat my lunch is someone comes in. Next time I’m not opening the door…”. It was almost 4pm. Got it. Then when he’s explaining their storage units he mentions mine is only 4ft tall. Which wasn’t explained to me when I booked my 5x10 unit. He was then annoyed he had to find a different one for me and they charged me $15 for a “change fee”. He said, “oh someone should have called you to explain to you it was only 4ft tall”. I had received a phone call the day prior but the representative only stated that their work hours and I could move in the following day. He was polite and just making a courtesy call. Nothing about the unit itself was mentioned. I asked the front desk manager if it could be waived since no one told me about it and I hadn’t moved into a unit yet or received keys and he just said “No it’s a company thing” and continued to charge me. I was very polite throughout and just said ok, even though at this point I thought to myself, “Is this guy being serious?” I thought about walking out of the storage facility… but that parking lot is just to nice. And just to push through and get the keys. We then continued to go down a long list of units and he asked me which one I wanted, I would pick one not knowing anything about it and he would say that one was bad.. so we just did that a few times until I said.. well can you just tell me which one to get? Then he picked one. So atleast there’s that. It was in fact a good unit. Except I was now paying $250 instead of $175. This is all before any paperwork has been started. He begins to type and making many mistakes putting in my information. That’s not a problem, but he put me as a “Ms” so I said oh I’m not a Miss and he looked at me dead in the face and said “I don’t know what that means”. Alright cool. Then we get to the insurance, he states I need to have a COI to move in “cause they are going to be on my ass until it’s on file”. He said you have like x amount of days to send it or they charge you $20/mo extra for it. I said I don’t have my login right now to generate a COI but can send it shortly after I get home so I can get on my computer. In fairness I do remember them asking me for it when I booked one in the online portal the night before. He said just to send him something now so I had to hunt in my emails for any random COI and sent it to him. He then proceeds to say “I don’t even know how to read this shit”. And just screenshots it and sends it. Meanwhile, about a week later, I just got an email that said that I’m now paying for insurance from SafeStorage. So that’s cool. I don’t know if they need better training or something but it’s actually a great storage facility but just beware that you won’t feel welcome and you’ll probably be frustrated going through the process of booking a unit here. Did I like writing this review? No. But I just want to give their management some feedback cause it could have been a great experience. ... Read more

This place is great. You should go with them. I compared to many options in Brooklyn. I don’t write reviews and I’m not getting anything for this. But here are my main whys: - customer service is on point. Sheila the manager is awesome, helpful, makes the process easy. - prices are solid, they run regular promotions. - storage facility is clean, organized, and climate controlled! ... Read more

You go to these places much like you would the DMV… with a psychological suit of armor on, prepared for the worst, hoping to just do what you need to do. But ROMAN made the process so smooth and honestly I had fun interacting with him and getting everything squared away. He rushed over from his lunch break, sandwich still in hand, and made sure I had everything I needed to put my stuff in storage. We even talked as human beings about moving, urban living, and Houston highways. He was awesome. Five stars for his attitude and attentiveness alone. ... Read more

This safeguard storage honestly blew me away with the professionalism, communication, and cleanliness. They were surprisingly honest and reached out to me before I had even booked a unit that I had reserved online to say that I should see it in person before paying any money because some folks paid before seeing their unit and ended up regretting it. Not sure why that would be the case because it is the cleanest and most well kept storage unit I have ever seen. The ability to unload belongings in a large gated driveway is also a huge plus, especially when parking can be hard to find in the area. Thoroughly impressed, would absolutely recommend this place over any other storage solution I’ve used in the past!! ... Read more

Great experience renting a storage unit for the first time! Carlos (I think that was his name ??) was super patient with me and let me go back and forth looking at different units while I debated what I wanted to commit to. Really appreciated him and we ended up with a unit I’m super happy with at a decent rate. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Safeguard Self Storage - 930 Grand Street include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Keyless Unit Access, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 20 to 150 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Safeguard Self Storage - 930 Grand Street start from $79 and can go up to $1,137 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
