Let me start by saying I went through a bad breakup and needed to find a storage place for my belongings, I looked at a couple and the service I got from them were not up to par with me. I came into public storage in sunset park and fell in love with the staff especially Lisa, as we she was telling me about units and pricing , I won’t lie I broke out into tears ( thinking of how will I move on w/o my partner ) she offered some words of encouragement and some friendly advice which I thought was AMAZING ! and honestly she treated me as a person and not a dollar sign. So this review is really for Lisa, thank you so much for your kind words! And your amazing professionalism! ... Read more

The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable especially property manager Lisa, she worked with me to find out how big of a unit I would need , what floor would be best and I appreciate it so much! 2 years later and I won’t go anywhere else but to public storage. Overall the place is clean and safe. I moved my stuff here because they offered a much cheaper price online than at my former storage unit. I made a reservation online for the lower rent. When I went in person to finalize the rental, I was told the unit was no longer available, that it had been rented earlier that day. They offered me a similar space for a much higher price. I stood my ground and suddenly there were several units available at the original price. Nevertheless the rent went up a few months later, however the price was still lower than what I was paying at my former unit. Don't move here on the first or last day of the month for you'll end up paying your moving crew a lot to wait around for the elevators. They raise the rent about every 6 months. I moved my stuff to a nearby storage facility that charges a lot less and does not raise the rent regularly. So far, so good. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 5002 2nd Avenue include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Keyless Unit Access, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 200 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 5002 2nd Avenue start from $33 and can go up to $707 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
