My parents had a storage unit here since 2012. Vassar always treated them kindly, with reasonable prices and easy access. When my dad passed away, Heidi was wonderful dealing with the issue to transfer unit to my mom. Once mom passed, she was again kind, compassionate and through on getting the unit taken care of. Highly recommend them! ... Read more

Secured access, well maintained, clean and reasonably priced. Shelly, the office manager, is onsite Tuesday through Saturday. She is helpful, very outgoing and seems to always have a smile to share. All problems can be addressed to her and she manages to have them taken care of. I have had the weather stripping replaced on my door and the door tension adjusted so that it easily opens and stays open. This site has ample exterior lighting and several fire extinguishers at hand. Many smaller units are available within the center section as are numerous larger units that are big enough to store a car. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Vassar Self Storage - 2456 Vassar Street include the following amenities: Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 280 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
