EDIT: Since the posting of my initial review, my views on the facility has changed 180 degrees. The posting was at the time of the initial rental. Yesterday, we were in the process of vacating the units for our re-location to Florida. (We have three units, which almost amounts to a mortgage.) One elevator was already "Out of Order". During our move, the second elevator broke down, leaving us stranded mid move. This has caused a significant delay in our itinerary requiring us to extend the truck rental at a cost of $100.00/day. This is a storage facility with cargo elevators which appear to be down more than operational. The building recently invested thousands of dollars on Solar Panels. Why, who knows? Instead of investing in solar panels, Public Storage should invest in a new elevator system. You literally take your life in own hands when you enter these elevators. The condition of the facility has continually deteriorated in the 7 months we have been there. It's filthy, smells horrible, and actually saw a rat running for cover. We contracted with a new facility in Florida, NOT PUBLIC STORAGE. The price we are paying for 6 months (locked in at EXTRA SPACE STORAGE), is actually significantly less than 2 months worth at this facility. We learned our lesson. ... Read more

I have had to keep a storage due to moving back home to help my sister who still is working to help take care of my 92yr old mom who can't be left alone. I am 70 on a fixed income - waiting now for a year, and probably longer for senior housing. I started with Public storage at 199.00 a year ago, they have increased the rent 4xs now- recently January 2025 - 283.71 - it's now March and they have sent an email that again my storage fee will be 375.00 in May for a 10x15 rental. Although clean and secured - when I ask about the increases they just say because it's their land rent???? That increases more than 4xs a year - everybody gets these increases?????? Going to complain to the BBB - I looked them up - they are not part of the BBB. ... Read more

My husband and I met with Heather at the Dover location of Public Storage. We had a truly exceptional experience. Heather is wonderful! So helpful and patient. She answered all our questions. The facility is very nicely maintained. We received an excellent rate and a larger space than we were looking for. Heather made the whole process easy from start to finish. Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 510 Mount Pleasant Avenue include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 510 Mount Pleasant Avenue start from $45 and can go up to $472 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
