I really wanted to rent from this location and support a local business in Newfields, but the onboarding and touring process was an absolute nightmare. After several days of trying to get a callback, I finally gained some momentum when I was provided a temporary access code to self-tour the facility and storage unit. Unfortunately, the code never worked correctly. After two separate trips, wasted time, and unnecessary gas expenses, I discovered the code provided actually opened the neighboring business’s back door instead of the storage facility. Not only was this incredibly concerning from a security standpoint, but it also startled the employees inside the neighboring business. I still never gained access to the storage building or the unit itself. I repeatedly explained to the call center that the code they provided ended with a pound sign (#), but the keypad only allowed entry using the * key. I tried using the * instead, and the code was still invalid every single time. What made the situation even worse was the complete lack of internal communication and operational awareness. This resulted in at least 10 back-and-forth phone calls in a single day, and during nearly every call, nobody seemed to know what was going on or who I had already spoken with, despite me repeatedly reciting employee names and re-explaining the situation from the beginning. When I finally spoke with Ana, the call service supervisor, she was unapologetically unhelpful and continued insisting the issue was my fault because I “didn’t have an account yet.” But that’s exactly why I was trying to tour the facility in the first place. What was most disappointing was the lack of accountability or customer service throughout the experience. No apology, no real attempt to troubleshoot the issue, and the interaction ended with a dismissive “have a blessed day” after being blamed for a problem caused entirely by their onboarding process. I even tried explaining that poor communication and lack of operational clarity like this will eventually hurt the owners’ business through negative customer experiences and reviews, but it genuinely did not seem to matter.
