I'll start with the positive: their late fee policy is incredibly fair. I was a month late on my payment and was only charged a flat $20 late fee, which was a huge relief. I really appreciate their lenient approach. However, the reason for my 2-star rating is a significant issue with the unit itself. There are sharp screws sticking out from the base of the interior walls. When I reported this, management told me it was 'standard' and that all the units are like that. Frankly, it doesn't matter if it's standard; it's a hazard. Customers shouldn't have to strategically work around sharp objects that could easily damage their furniture, boxes, or other fragile belongings. While I'm glad I noticed them before anything was damaged, the principle of the matter is what's unacceptable. The facility is otherwise nice and the staff is helpful, but this major flaw is why I can't give a higher rating. ... Read more

I will say the workers were very helpful, and the storage unit was fine, but within 2 months the jacked the price up from 70-120 a month out of nowhere, then told me I had an introductory rate. I wasn’t aware of that and if I had known I wouldn’t have wasted my time lugging my things there just to have to get them out due to the high cost for a smaller unit. They should be putting that out there highlighted somewhere up front so people know what they’re getting into. I don’t like that kind of business… even though anytime I spoke with them on the phone they were helpful. I would’ve stayed if they didn’t hike up the price unfairly. ... Read more

Rating sb 0. Don’t be fooled by low introductory or promotional rates. This owner grossly overcharges. We rented here and learned this was a bad selection for our belongings. We’ve rented a storage unit from ExtraSpace since 2019. Since then, our rental fee has increased 123%. We had a 10x30 size unit and was paying $590 a month before we left. We talked to the office about being competitive and reasonable with the rent fee. Even the clerk was surprised by the fee we were being charged ($590 per month). BUT he said the fee was competitive. I had already done research in the area and found were NOT competitive. They were excessively charging us 100 % over the rate of their competitors. The office clerk was kind. He said he had authority to reduce the fee by $30. I told him that was I sufficient and I wanted a competitive rate. He said that was all he could offer. I then asked to speak with the owner/manager of the facility. He said he would speak with them. He later told us the owner agreed to an additional $20 reduction. Again, we responded that a $50 temporary reduced rate was insufficient. On top of the exorbitant fee we were paying, a water leak had developed in our unit At some point, in May 2024 we received a phone call that the lock on our unit had to be cut off so that the leak could be fixed. We were told that none of our belonging had been damaged. We were out of the area and could not check on anything until Aug 2024. When we returned to check our belongings, we found that the report of no damage was a baldfaced lie. There was substantial water damage. Several boxes had obvious signs of water damage. Most boxes sitting on the floor were moldy and the contents were water damaged, the unit smelled of mildew. We had to throw away many of our belongings bc the damage was unrecoverable. We inform the office of the damage and they said that is why we have insurance. We located a storage facility in the same neighborhood that had a temperature controlled, indoor unit for 1/2 the price we were paying. It was a no brainer to move. While moving our items we came across others moving out of Extra Storage to another facility as well bc of overcharging. While moving our items, We received notice that another water leak had occurred in another building. No doubt, more water damage for some other poor souls that are overpaying. ... Read more

Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Extra Space Storage - 120 Spit Brook Road start from $62 and can go up to $575 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
