I only checked 1 star because a "0" was not available.. How can a person remain in business when they don't want to communicate with customers? I called Scott because he was supposed to be a "professional".. He says "yeah I can do it for you", but no return calls?, no emails?, NOTHING !! Just a waste of my time and everyone else's involved.. If a business does not communicate with it's customers, that is a business you DO NOT want to deal with.. MOVE ON.. ... Read more

If you want to know that you are getting what you pay for, use westward boat storage. Scott and Rob Janke are about as honest and hardworking as they come. On top of that they possess some of the best knowledge of a number of different boats. I use them for my storage, repair and summer/winterization needs. I always know I am in good hands with these guys. Do not hesitate to use Westward! ... Read more

My experience with Scott Janke differed from the other reviewers'. Greatly. Earlier this summer i was looking for someone who could haul a boat for me to a lake in northern Minnesota and haul it back a week later. Scott was referred to me by my marina owner, who actually called Scott and discussed my needs with him (I was standing next to my marina guy and heard his side of the conversation). They had a prior business relationship, so when I was given Scott's number and the green light to call him, I figured this was a good lead - after all, if Scott wasnt interested in the business, he could have told my marina owner and that would have been that, right? The next day, I called Scott and gave him more detail about what I needed. He didn't say he wasnt interested or that he couldn't do it. On the contrary, he told me he could haul the boat, gave me a ballpark estimate of the cost each way (which was fair), and asked for the exact destination so he could check the mileage against my estimate. (I would have paid what he asked if he stayed close to the estimate. ) He told me he would firm up his price and then call me back. The call was promising and I hung up fully expecting I would get a call back. Two days went by, then three. No call. I left a message. No call back. I gave it a couple of days. Left another message and, again, no call back. A week goes by and now Scott's voicemail is full - in my experience, not a good sign from someone in the service industry. Then, his outgoing voice message changed to say he would be away, but return the following Monday. So, I figured he went on vacation or something and just forgot to call. Gave him the benefit of the doubt. But, the next week was the same story: no return calls, no answer to any text messages. The guy completely ghosted me. Maybe he changed his mind about the business opportunity, i don't know. In my mind, though, there was no excuse for not returning one call or text message over the course of a month, even if he would have been calling to tell me he wasn't interested in the business. I lost time i could have been looking for other alternatives based on the things he told me on that first call and what he told my marina owner. His behavior was totally inconsistent with professionalism or reliability. So, you might wasnt to take my experience into account before calling Scott - you could save yourself a lot of hassle. There are a lot of boat service and storage businesses in Minnesota. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Westward Boat Storage - 12325 County Road 30 include the following amenities: Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Parking, Enclosed and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
