I have been using this storage facility for about a year now, unfortunately, my experience has been less than satisfactory. The initial monthly rent was attractive and seemed like a reasonable deal, but after just a few months, the rent increased significantly with no visible improvement to the facility or its services. This abrupt increase feels like a bait-and-switch tactic, as they initially offered a competitive rate to get customers in, only to raise prices once they had secured them. They have just recently increased without any added value or enhancement in services or facility. There is no clear reason for these increases, and it is frustrating to see no tangible benefits or upgrades to justify the continuous rising costs. The lack of transparency and communication regarding the reasons behind the rent hikes only adds to the frustration. I would advise potential customers to carefully consider their options before committing to this facility. ... Read more

I called to find out the hours for tomorrow, so I could come in to change the credit card # for our locker. I was delighted when Megan told me she could handle that over the phone! She also let me update the insurance information by phone, saving me a trip. Megan was delightful to talk with, and very helpful, wanting to be sure she had taken care of everything I needed. I hope Megan stay around as property manager for a long time! ... Read more

Megan was super dope to work with and clearly stated all fees associated with renting a car storage locker. She made the process easy to complete over the phone and made sure I had all of my questions answered before ending our call. The facility is a bit old and could use some upgrades in some places, but as long as it doesn't fall on my car - I have no complaints. ... Read more

This place is in total disrepair. My storage unit was filthy when I first opened it. The potholes are so huge you will scrape the bottom of your car on the pavement. They will also raise the rent on you. The employees are friendly but clearly there is zero maintenance done on this facility. ... Read more

I regret renting a storage unit at this facility. After just two months, my rent increased from $22 to $31 per month—a staggering 41% hike. If this was to cover property tax increases, I highly doubt they jumped that much. What’s even more frustrating is that despite this increase, no improvements have been made to the facility. The entire facility is riddled with large potholes, including multiple right at the entrance that are unavoidable. Every time I visit, I'm genuinely concerned about damaging the underside of my car. The exit gate has been broken the entire time I’ve been renting, so I’m forced to navigate the potholes twice—once entering and once exiting. It's clear that maintenance is being neglected, so why am I paying more? It seems like basic upkeep isn’t a priority here, even though a simple bag of blacktop repair from Home Depot costs around $15—something that could have almost been covered by my rent increase alone. ... Would not recommend. Rented a space with alley access. Between Cedar Lake road and my locker there are five enormous, both wide and deep, potholes that my car cannot handle. Additionally, the overhead door to my locker was off rail making it a challenge to open, manually. I commented about it on Google, they called me back and assured me that the property manager would contact me to take care of the issues. They did not for an entire six weeks. I tried to find them myself, but the property management office is always closed. Literally, I have tried multiple times in different days and times of day, to no avail. Then, one day, two weeks in on my second month there, I received a letter informing me that there would be a 40% increase in rent, with no other mention of the issues whatsoever. Called back and talked to another person who issued a ticket and once more they promised the property manager will be reaching out. Also, the rent increase was set, with only a discretional delay of one month on application, which alone I find despicable as a business practice. A week later I call again stating that I am leaving for a trip, and need to know what the case will be because this would be a deciding factor whether I stayed or not. The third person finds the property manager and she calls me, finally. But she is not able to do anything in 'such a short notice' and demands to leave my keys with them while away, or else they will cut the lock and charge me with the cost of a new one. We make an appointment to drive and leave it with her, and once more she was not at the office? I called and told them to not do anything, I am done, I am moving out as soon as I am back from my trip. She said 'this is not possible' and I ended up threatening with a lawsuit if they violated my space during my absence. Needless to say, there was no mention of fixing the potholes! At this point, I am concluding that this place is to be avoided at all cost, which, by the way and speaking about my own unit, is comparable to much higher quality storage provided just a block away. The two stars are here only for the convenience of initial setup, which is great, because apparently there is no property manager involved. ... Read more

Been renting here almost 2 years… in that time it would seem they are experiencing staffing issues. No one is ever at the office if assistance is needed. I’ve been looking at the aftermath of damage from a break-in to the facility for over 2 months. Another customer/reviewer has his unit broken into and documented the damage and not a thing has been done to fix the damage to the perimeter fencing… the rent has been increased no more than 4 times since I started renting, which would be ok if that money actually went into maintaining the facility or staffing it with someone who could be considered professional. Will be packing up and moving everything out before someone steals all my belongings. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at iStorage - 5605 Cedar Lake Road South include the following amenities: Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Enclosed, Keyless Unit Access, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 360 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by iStorage - 5605 Cedar Lake Road South start from $31 and can go up to $462 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
