I just moved my stuff into The Lock Up Self Storage yesterday, as my other storage unit was costing me almost twice as much as it did when we first moved in. I was with Public Storage before and they stopped having a live person on site. The Lock Up has a live person on site, who is very helpful and friendly. There are three parking stalls and plenty of carts to move your stuff. Plus the units are nice and new, very clean and no mold or mildew smell, nor any spider webs. It's so much nicer than my old storage unit. I highly recommend. ... Read more

I used this storage facility to store special items from my old apartment that I can’t go near due to mold in my former apartment. The items aren’t moldy themselves but I react strongly to anything from that apartment due to the mycotoxins and it puts me in the ER. I’m pretty much locked into this storage closet as it’s part of a court case against the landlord for their negligence that caused the mold and because the items in there make me incredibly sick. Since being exposed I’ve been in and out of the hospital, nearly died, and had many scary anaphylactic events and problems. Had this storage locker go to “pre-lien status” when I was very sick and off work for related complications. It fell off my radar. I called immediately when I was notified. Asked for options to avoid the lien fee that is $150 and explained that I’ve been sick. Customer service stated I could set up a payment arrangement but the actual facility at first didn’t know, then checked with the building manager and said no even after I had explained the circumstances. The only way I could avoid that fee was to pay immediately almost $200 - same day. I had already said that I could pay the entire bill 3 days later, but by that point the bill would have been over $300 due to the lien fee. I’ve been barely making it and I’m supporting a child sick on my own. I tried to explain this and asked for some options. None were given. They told me I should have called sooner but when you’re so sick you can’t leave bed that really isn’t on your radar. Keep in mind I’ve paid my bill at this place consistency for several years now due to this issue. As soon as our court case is over and I can get rid of this storage locker I’ll be glad. Can’t recommend the customer service here. I understand I am accountable for the bill, but not paying it was never my intention, I have just fallen on hard times. To be so inflexible with a paying customer suffering hardship was truly deplorable to me. Keep this in mind if you’re looking for a storage facility because life happens. ... Read more

I have been going through a housing instability for the past month. and this is the third storage unit I’ve had to move my belongings into. It has been a stressful time for me and I am just glad that I was treated like a normal human being again with the staff on site. Robert was very friendly and welcoming at my move-in day. He even made a suggestion to downsize my original reservation to help with my budget range and gave me a lovely tour of the facility. I appreciated his kindness and hope he continues to put a smile on so many people’s faces. Thank you so much! ... Read more

The owner/manager who runs this place is a pretty down to earth fellow. He will work with you if you are late on a couple payments. I was late a few times since the pandemic started. The storage units are all in a climate controlled building and super secure. Very clean and for the most part very reasonable in rent prices. I definitely recommend this place if it's a convenient distance away from you or even if it's not. Just finally moved everything out of my unit and don't need extra storage anymore after a year and a half with them. ... Read more

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
