EDIT: I want to come back and say, the manager I spoke to originally, Trisha, left me a voicemail this morning. I was unfortunately in a meeting and could not answer. But she said she is refunding my admin fee as I had to buy my own lock. I am impressed with this companies effort for customer satisfaction and I am changing my original 3 star review to 5?? I’m generally satisfied with my storage unit rental experience. The facility is clean, easy to access, and the space is exactly what I needed. Customer service has been kind and helpful, including a call from a manger, even though they were based two hours away. However, I did encounter some confusion regarding the locks. I had purchased the required disk lock (as mentioned in the lease), and called the facility when I realized it didn’t lock the door. I was then informed over the phone by a representative that the facility actually provides its own locks, which are stored inside each unit—but this wasn’t mentioned in the lease, and I wasn’t aware of it until after I’d bought my own lock. When I checked in the unit, there was no lock. I was later instructed by the manager who called me from 2 hours away to take one from another empty unit. Additionally, I was told I would receive a follow-up call on Monday by the Maple Grove facility manager to ensure everything was properly set up with my unit, but I never received that call. Despite these issues, the space is great, and I’m overall satisfied with the unit. A little more clarity on the lock situation would go a long way in preventing confusion for customers. ... Read more

One of my loved ones has a storage unit here, I’ve been here many times in the last year or two. Metro Storage always kept everything very clean. I felt the need to leave this review because of how the owner responded to the review right before mine. It is a blatant lie that they had to “clean up” after the previous management. The cleanliness issues only ever happened after this new ownership took over. Granted, it does seem like they are trying to improve their standards now, after so many complaints. Way overpriced. Misleading hours. Disgruntled tenants. I stopped by this place four times over three weeks to ask about storage and no one was in the office, despite Google Maps showing them as being Open. The last time I went there, a lady and a man who were going inside told me not to bother trying to rent there and that they were moving out because it is no longer Metro Storage and is now Five Star Storage, and that the new owner is absolutely terrible. They said the place inside is really dirty and that no one is ever in the office. They told me that many tenants are leaving. They suggested that I go in the internet and look up Extra Space storage in Corcoran, Maple Grove and Plymouth and Public Storage in Maple Grove because their prices are much much cheaper. On their advice I logged into the website fivestarstorage.biz to see if I could get information on storage. The prices are really really high, and the office hours are very limited and not the same as shown on Google Maps. Today I rented storage at Extra Space in Corcoran and got the same size unit for 28% the price this Five Star Storage charges. I hope my experience can help others. ... Read more

WATCH OUT. My girlfriend has a unit here (for now) and I have been to the place countless times over the past five years. Recently it changed to "Five Star Storage" and has gone downhill in extraordinary fashion to the point we are moving out. The place is a dump, the driveway is dirtier than the outside, the hallways are filthy and have trash and litter scattered in some places, one bathroom is out of order and the other one is a disgrace, and there is no one in the office to fix any of it. They sent out a new lease that with predatory terms, like if you are ever late, they will immediately up your rental rate to the currently published rate, and those rates are 2 to 8 times higher than nearby competition. This place was consistently beautiful and well maintained until the end of 2024, but now it's the total opposite. I can see that many other tenants have already figured it out also and many have moved out. When I found out who took it over, I read reviews of their other locations. I encourage all to do that as well. The business model seems to be to take over successful storage places who earned a great reputation and then pretend that those reviews reflect their own company - they do not. Any review on this place before November 2024 should be completely ignored. Five Star Storage seems to have a pattern of not caring about their customers, preying on them, accepting no accountability, and acting like they have no competition. Go elsewhere. There are lots of other storage facilities nearby with rents ? to ½ what this place charges, and, unlike Five Star Storage, all of them offer a meaningful move-in special. EDIT/RESPONSE: First, the identity of my girlfriend is irrelevant (except to expose her to retribution). You are correct, my name is not associated with her unit, and there is no way I will reveal her unit at least until after we move out. As to hearing her and my concerns (and the concerns of several other tenants we have spoken with), I have expressed them clearly in this review. But in case you are confused, let me recap: 1. The place is a dump. The driveway is absolutely filthy and it seems that it has not been cleaned for over a month. Except during an active snowfall or rain, Metro Storage was never dirty. It was as clean as the hallways, although even now those are dirty as well. I don't even want to set a box down on the driveway because the floor has dirt, salt, rocks and even screws have been found. It is obvious that no one bothers to clean the floor AT ALL. The one operational bathroom is a pig pen. It's so filthy, my girlfriend (and others) refuses to use it. There has been no toilet paper, feces on the toilet seat, urine splatter, overfilled trash can, no paper towels, and the soap dispenser empty. It was NEVER like that before it became Five Star Storage. 2. Your response reads just like the responses at other Five Star Storage facilities where a customer tells you exactly why they gave you one star and would give a negative ten stars if they could. You seem more concerned about identifying the customer than fixing the problem. Your utter lack of GENUINE concern about the customer's complaint is obvious. And you downplay and dismiss the complaint as if it is "transitional" or non-existent purely because you say so. I don't think it is possible for a company to be more tone deaf. 3. No one is in the office to answer a quick question or respond to a problem. Also, I felt better knowing that someone was in the building whenever my girlfriend went there alone. 4. The fine print of the terms of the lease, the incredibly jacked up rents (2 to 8 times higher than nearby competitors), and the general ethos of the company have us and many other tenants running away. Based on reviews of other Five Star Storage facilities, combined with our own experience with the company so far, we are convinced that Five Star Storage is bad news and should be avoided before having to deal with trouble later. My mom has rented a unit here for 10 years now. We came today (Thanksgiving) to get some of here christmas decor… To find people living in multiple units, trash laying in the aisle of one.
