Someone stole the cover off of my motorcycle parked on camera and they couldn't pull up who did it and help me to catch them. It was latched on underneath the bike and resulted in the black plastic on my bike fading a little in the sun. If you value securely storing your stuff go elsewhere. *Update* I went to the front desk the day I discovered it and they said they had no footage because they deleted it. I highly recommend going elsewhere. Storage facilities are a dime a dozen in this area ... Read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND! Moved my stuff in August and went back to place more stuff in the unit only to find mouse droppings in all my stuff. They have a mouse infestation and are raising the price beginning next month. I’ll be damned if I’m paying 30+ extra dollars for a mouse infested storage unit. Very disappointed will be moving my stuff out asap ... Read more

I rented a storage unit from 3/22-1/25. I endured one significant rate increase when the price was already higher than others I knew were paying at other comparable storage units. However, the idea of moving all of my belongings was too daunting, so I stayed. I had the money taken out in full automatically each month and never asked for assistance throughout the time I was renting the unit. At the beginning of 2025, I went online to search for a contact number and the “email your question” page popped up. I emailed to let them know I was moving out and inquired about garbage disposal. I received a call that day. I finished cleaning out the unit and again used the email contact. I had left the lock on accidentally and to please let me know if I needed to come take if off. I received no phone call, so I assumed it was all set. I then get a nasty email stating that I am behind on my payment and my storage is locked. I think there must be an error and again use the email contact and just like the first time, I receive a call. (Remember, I did not receive a call when I emailed about the lock.) they had an employee from kalamazoo call me and he stated that they replied to my email and that I needed to pay before I could get in to take the lock and as long as the lock was on I would have to continue paying. He kept saying I wouldn't have access to my stuff and I repeatedly told him that the storage had been empty since 1/11. I went to the facility and couldn't get in to unlock the unit because I was “behind” on payment. I went in to talk to the guy and he gave the same pat answers and I told him I never received an email. I looked in my inbox, trash and spam. He just blew me off and said they sent it so its on me. I paid an extra 115.00 for the right to go into the facility to unlock the empty unit. Before I went out into the freezing cold, I asked him if they put a lock on it that he would need to remove and he assured me that it was good to go. I went out there and struggled with the lock, called my son and cried because I couldn't get the lock off they were going to keep charging me. In the meantime, the guy could see me out there struggling and didn't help. I went back in and he said that it had to come off so he’d come take a look. I go back out in the cold and wait and then he looks at it and says oh yeah we did lock it so you couldn't get in. I finally get it open and he still had to look in and see it was empty. Even though I us had told him repeatedly. So overall, disappointed in the cost and customer service. I wasn't given the benefit of the doubt. I wasn't treated like a decent upstanding person who thought she was doing everything appropriately. I definitely wasn't treated like a customer paying for a service to a company that appreciated my business for nearly 3 years. There are many storage companies in this county and I would encourage anyone looking for this service to look elsewhere. I am highly unimpressed. ... Read more

The staff at National Storage (Gull Rd, Kalamazoo) were easy to interact with - available - responded to e-mail messages. We even had a little snafu with the first unit I tried to rent, but they worked with me to fix it. I appreciated that I could get into the units throughout the day with my gate code. The garage doors raised and lowered without a problem. The locks (we had to buy from them) were functional and kept our stuff securely. I deducted one star from my rating because I did have some water infiltration - which I wasn't surprised that happened to the unit on the end of the building - but we even had water in the unit that was the second one away from the end of the building - so that was disappointing. It was dripping through the roof on the interior one. It was coming down from the edges on the exterior unit. I deducted another star because we also had a LOT of stink bugs that got into/on to our boxes, so I've been squashing them at my new house as I unpack. They were all over on the doors and walls of the storage unit building. ... Read more

It was so convenient. I was able to get a storage unit immediately. They provided the lock. They were flexible with my check out. Although my credit card was charged after checkout, management refunded my card right away. Access requires an assigned code, so I always felt safe in the yard. The space was clean. There is not 24 hour access. ... Read more

Update: It has now been almost 3 months since the unfortunate choice to rent this unit. Today I exchanged words with the male employee who works the desk who has consistently harassed me every time I have come to this building. I explained to him that this situation is something I cannot change right now or I would absolutely pack up and leave. I shared with him the circumstances that I am here under and that it is not ok for him to continually harass me. He then proceeded to tell me that he will *try* to remember not to harass me next time but he can’t promise me he will remember me. I looked him dead in the eye and told him that he ABSOLUTELY remembers me and that it is NOT OK to do what he is doing and that it is causing even more stress in an already stressful situation. I hope his employer sees this review as it is impossible to reach any kind of management to discuss the behavior and issues of this location. ****The building is infested with rodents.**** The building has visible rodent holes that you can see outside through the wall from the inside of the climate controlled building. The door which is closest to my unit does not close, there is over an inch gap when the door is ‘closed’ but not closed, when I showed this to the guy who has no respect, he said it has been like that for years. I’m paying for climate control and the temperature is not regulated. Every time I go in there it is a different temperature and the range has been 30 degrees difference-that’s not climate controlled! Keyword CONTROLLED. I asked him to put a work order in to fix the door, the rodent issue and the holes in the walls, and the temperature regulation today 2/17/24. Management-you have my number, I’m sure the guy who runs your desk can deduce who I am for you. Original review: Used the website to lease two units, one in climate control and the other non climate controlled. The indoor unit smells STRONGLY like some kind of alcohol and very very dirty. Holes in the walls that you can see outside through (unfortunately I did not see this until we unloaded an entire 20’ U-Haul into the unit) what is the point in getting an indoor unit if you can already see that it has an infestation problem?! The outside of this facility smells like dog feces ALL THE TIME! There is standing water in every drive between buildings, you can see the sludge floating in it. I’m concerned that my belongings will be ruined by the time I am able to move them again. Upon my first arrival when the office was staffed (but my third day on site to unload), I was called when I ran behind another vehicle entering and the guy claimed he didn’t know who I was (odd because he called me!) I repeatedly told him it was not an ok time to talk as I had help for a limited amount of time and I needed all of that time to unload another full U-Haul. The guy then came to my unit, kept insisting that I speak with him and give my ID, it wasn’t until I finally caved to being flat out rude to him that he finally got the message. What an unfortunate situation when my move was already happening due to very sad and difficult circumstances. This is NOT an experience or atmosphere I would sign up for again. I moved from out of the area and had no idea what this place was like. Unfortunately my items must stay here for a bit. I’m so bummed. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at National Mini Storage - 3330 Gull Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 50 to 400 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
