Be aware of hours. I was helping friend go through storage unit & was locked in (my car was) I was able to get through fence & call for ride. Nobody drove/walked through before closing up... Which might be due to automatic gate? Closes automatically at certain time? But overall my friend says units are decent size for price. ... Read more

When we started renting our storage unit nine years ago, it was pretty affordable. I mean, it has to be when what you get is a non-climate controlled building, and there's really no guarantee against insects or vermin. It worked for us for a while, but for the last few years, the price just kept going up, and sorry, $75 a month is too much for what you get. Definitely no longer worth the money we were shelling out every month, so we cleaned out our unit and left. ... Read more

Do not rent from this business! We rented a U-haul to move our home last Saturday. My boyfriend misplaced something very valuable, and we spent a few days searching through all the boxes and everything else we had moved. I finally called Charlotte Mini Storage on Thursday to ask if we had left it in the truck. The woman was rather short with me in explaining that she had not worked the weekend, so she didn’t know. However, she did say that she would find out and call me back. No one ever called me back, and we were debating whether it could possibly be hidden in our belongings somewhere or if we should report it stolen. The following night, my boyfriend heard through the grapevine that the owner of the business had the item. When he called him, he was given an extremely hard time about forgetting it in the truck and not calling sooner. It seems reasonable to me that someone might forget something after spending an exhaustive day moving and then spend the time to try and locate it. No explanation as to why they never called me upon finding it or returned my call inquiring about it. If someone hadn’t tipped us off, there is no doubt the mini storage owner would still be harboring it in his safe. To me, intentionally hiding something from its lawful owner is nothing short of stealing. Luckily for them, my boyfriend wouldn’t trivialize the work of the police department with such a matter. I would have called the police as soon as I learned he had the item and was intentionally withholding it from us. Being the owner of three mini storages and a U-Haul rental seems a dubious profession for someone of such questionable character. I would never trust my belongings to this company again. ... Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Charlotte Mini Storage - 517 West Lovett Street include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted and Multi-Level Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
