I'll start with the cons that way readers get the full scope of why not to rent space from Self Storage Plus. Pricing: my rate has jumped almost $300.00 since Self Storage Plus took over back in say 2021/22. That's A lot! What they don't provide, clean restrooms, Dollie's that aren't broken or worn down from use, elevators that are working properly, no trash/dumpsters, mysterious all of a sudden this is in your contract statements, removing locks if your 33 days late, lien notices if your 4 days late adding additional fees over $110 plus dollars. The icing on the cake customer service. For every interaction I've had with an employee at this storage facility it has been an uphill battle. Literally! Each time it's because oh we're enforcing the contract now. If you want to enforce anything let the customers know especially when you never have. Now this past weekend I ended up having to call Montgomery County Police to navigate the ridiculous manner in which Sam (person there) handled my unit and the situation. After paying $634.00, I asked that the overlock be removed. Okay no problem. I'll meet you at the unit per Sam. We get to the unit he says do you have a lock, (of course because now they remove them and their reason is because they need to take pictures of your items, which is BS. If you haven't done that for 3/4 years why would you start now removing locks to be clear. We call that a money grab and unnecessary). We get to my unit and he says do you have a lock. I said no. Oh then I can't remove the lock. I tried to be calm and asked for a manger after letting Sam know this new rule never happened before. He proceeded to tell me the customer the situation didn't require a manager. If a customer asks for a supervisor (mind you I asked calmly) you figure it out or problem solve, not become arrogant. I said if you can't get a supervisor I'll get the police to assist. I suppose he thought I was joking and brushed it off in an arrogant manner. I drove 4 hours and paid one month of $634, I wasn't in the mood for his unprofessional tones/attitude. Sam then proceeded to lie about the facts of which my friend corrected him quickly on what I said. Police arrived and I lost my patience. He proceeds to pull out my contract that he highlighted to explain to the police. That enraged me even more. Why wouldn't you have done that before an escalation of a situation. Why he didn't take the steps to say listen if we go back to the office I can show you in your contract or even better before we got to my unit when I was paying say something. More importantly that wasn't my signature on the contract. This escalation could have been completed avoided and police not included. Instead it was Sam trying to play the victim in a situation that he wasn't. It was me having someone there to corroborate his actions and how things escalated in a negative way. As a woman there was no professional respect given in the situation to mitigate or deescalate. If there were a "0" star yes, they have achieved it. In the process of moving things now. We all have to pay bills and with that comes customer service a certain physical aesthetic of cleanliness. That is not what Self Storage Plus offers its customers. Pricing is bad, facility is not up kept as it once was. No one likes an unclean restroom or Dollie's where the boards are worn down and loose. Do better! No apologies needed or wanted. ... Read more

Every time I’ve visited this facility, the front office has been closed with a sign saying someone will return at a certain time. It’s incredibly frustrating, especially when you're trying to handle business during posted office hours. They clearly need more staff available to avoid inconveniencing customers. Beyond that, the condition of the facility is unacceptable. My unit had mouse droppings all over my belongings, and the hallways are dirty and completely dark because none of the lights work. There’s also a strong, foul odor coming from a nearby unit — and another tenant mentioned the same thing, so it's clearly not being addressed. On top of that, the rate increase after just a few months felt deceptive. While they did send a small postcard as notice, they never made it clear up front that the low “web rate” was temporary. You think you're locking in the advertised price, only to get blindsided by a significant increase shortly after moving in. This place is poorly managed and unsanitary. I would not recommend storing anything here ... Read more

I consider myself to be a connoisseur of customer service. In all of my years of storing with several companies in the Washington metropolitan area, I am keenly aware of those who go above and beyond. At Plyers Mill that would be Natalie. Her customer service made me feel good about continuing to do business with this site. In and industry where the agreements and laws can be heartless, this means a lot. ... Read more

56% increase on storage rent within 6 months of moving in. Outrageous. Have you ever been in an apartment where rent would increase 56% within a 6 month window. No. Self storage plus should stop playing games with pricing. I wouldn't be so angry if it was a more reasonable storage rent increase, like 10%. But 56% ! You are just wasting customers time. I do not recommend this self storage plus unless you want them to play pricing games with you. Just Ridiculous Greed. ... Read more

I recently had the pleasure of working with Natalie at Self Storage Plus on Plyers Mill Road, and she was truly amazing! We had an issue with a reservation that a third-party rental service messed up, but Natalie stepped in and went above and beyond to help us. Despite being a new employee (only 30 days on the job!), she handled everything with professionalism and a smile. She even stayed past her shift to ensure everything was resolved, coordinating with her corporate office to get the situation sorted out. Her dedication and positive attitude made a stressful situation much easier. I can’t thank her enough for her exceptional customer service! Highly recommend! ?????????? ... Read more

Where do I even begin? Natalie is completely unhelpful. She'll say whatever just to get you out of her hair and doesn't actually care about your situation. First off, she's still pretty new. I asked her to cancel a unit because I was moving out, and she said she would take care of it. Well, she forgot, and I ended up getting charged for an extra month. I had to contact my bank just to get my money back! Then, I moved into a different unit, but found out the same day that it wasn't going to work for the elderly lady I was helping store her belongings. When I asked Natalie for a refund (mind you, it hadn't even been 3 hours since I got the unit), she flat-out refused. No refunds. Save yourself the trouble and go anywhere else! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Self Storage Plus - 3700 Plyers Mill Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Self Storage Plus - 3700 Plyers Mill Road start from $50 and can go up to $695 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
