I’ve been renting a climate controlled unit here – here are my observations: Pluses : 1.) Relatively strict & modern security practices 2.) Office is usually attended Cons : 1.) It’s nearly 80 degrees and humid in the unit. Never once felt AC running. 2.) One of Two elevators is broken. 3.) No stair access. 4.) Unit walls do not go all the way to the ceiling. Update - the thermostat is stuck at 77 degrees and high humidity warning! Adding another update (new photo) weeks after my above review - temperature outside the building is 65 degrees, Temperature inside “climate controlled” flood is 78… Front desk and manager have not replied to any of my inquiries. UPDATE : manager responded and said the “keep the temperature above 50 in the winter and below 80 in the summer” - that is NOT “climate controlled”. ... Read more

Update as of 3/10/25: Regional Manager Nate Pham failed to fully resolve my issue and did not apply the promised credit for my destroyed bed toward my March and April rent. As a result, I am now facing late fees and constant harassment from Public Storage regarding an outstanding balance that should have been resolved. ————————— Absolutely horrific experience at this storage facility—avoid at all costs! Rented a 10x10 unit in Nov 2024, and on Feb 17, 2025 (Presidents’ Day), I arrived at 7 PM—within their posted 6 AM-9 PM hours—to move a nearly new disassembled IKEA bed. Office empty, no staff, no hours or emergency contact posted. Elevator was a NIGHTMARE—only went to the 2nd floor (I needed 3rd), doors barely opened, and it got stuck TWICE with us and another couple inside. Elevator emergency button? Useless—one-way audio, some lady answered, couldn’t hear us, hung up twice without checking. Serious safety issue! Left my bed on a cart by the elevator since I couldn’t move it alone and needed my car free to carpool kids next morning. Returned at 8 AM—office still empty, waited 20 mins, no one. Came back at 11 AM—my bed was GONE. Staff admitted they trashed it in the dumpster, scratched and broken, claiming it was ‘abandoned’ despite being neatly on a dolly. They even confessed to working multiple Public Storage facilities at once, explaining the constant no-shows. Security footage would’ve shown our struggle—they didn’t care. Corporate promised a manager call within 48 hrs—nothing. Instead, they practically doubled my storage fees from $180 to $250 without written notice or consent. Unreliable, unsafe, and they’ll destroy your stuff—STAY AWAY! Update from 3/10/2025 - After multiple attempts, I finally spoke with Regional Manager Nate Pham, and unfortunately, the experience was just as disappointing as my previous interactions. He was not apologetic about my destroyed IKEA bed and essentially blamed me for the loss. I had to repeatedly explain that I was forced to leave the bed behind because my storage unit was inaccessible during listed business hours due to a malfunctioning elevator that would not go above the 2nd floor. To make matters worse, there was no staff available within those hours, and no emergency contact number—just an office number that goes straight to voicemail. Additionally, the office manager admitted that Public Storage automatically raises rental prices every six months for all tenants. After I complained about my rent nearly doubling, the office manager promised to adjust the rate for three months and to compensate me for my lost bed by crediting part of March and covering my full April rent. However, there was no record of this agreement, and only the rate adjustment was honored—the promised rent waivers were ignored. Despite paying my portion of March’s rent, I have been harassed non-stop via email, text messages, and phone calls, and I am now facing unjust late fees and an unresolved balance. Even after a conversation with Nate Pham around March 3, 2025, where he promised to correct the issue, nothing has been resolved! This entire experience has been beyond frustrating—filled with broken promises, poor communication, total missmanagment and corporate greed. I strongly advise against renting from Public Storage. ... This place was really cool. I've never rented a storage unit before so this was all new. These were indoor climate controlled units. Best for electronics, heat or cold sensitive stuff. So with our sudden move it was the best place to put all our keyboards, synthesizers, and instruments. It was recommended for things like photos or tech. My vegan leather jacket and art supplies or my partners kilt stuff. It was a comfortable temperature. Probably in the 70s. It wasn't cold but not hot. We rented a 5'x5' and it was a bit like a big metal closet. But perfect for the stuff we needed as they were a bit expensive. We brought a metal shelf we had so that just made the space easier to store more stuff. You needed the app or your security code to go up the elevators to the units. They had big wheeled carts available but if someone is using all of them you just wait. It was super hot outside the day we moved our stuff in so it was well nice inside. There was an on-site bathroom in the office that was really helpful. They had bigger units available. The only issue I had was I got it on the last day of the month and they said they'd prorate it so it would count as the payment for the 1st of the month. That's when the rent is due. Cool. What I didn't know was to do that they charged me for that last day of the month. If I would have known obviously I could have just waited the less than 24hrs to rent it on the 1st. I don't mind paying it, it's just it would have been nice if the person on the phone or the email could have let me know about it before I got there with all my stuff. This size unit was nearly $100 to move in and with insurance will be about $58/month after. They give you $5000 of insurance for 30 days then it's $19.99/month after. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 12211 Middlebrook Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 200 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 12211 Middlebrook Road start from $86 and can go up to $387 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
