I had an excellent experience at this Public Storage location, thanks to Tsegab and Carlton. From the very first day I opened my storage unit, they have always been helpful, professional, and kind. Today, when I arrived and there was ice in front of my unit, they immediately stepped in to help me without hesitation. Their customer service is truly outstanding. They go above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly and that customers feel supported. I am so glad I chose this location for my storage needs. Highly recommend! ... Read more

I've been with this PS for 20+ years. This year my rent went up $100 a month to almost $500 a month. I knew it was a long shot but I went in to ask if anything I can do for a decrease, based on how long I've been there. Carlton, the manager there was fabulous. He was patient with me as we looked at solutions and keeping my unit with PS vs having to relocate all my 10x15 unit. PS did keep my current rate for six months, so no increase, and Carlton helped me reserve a new unit just four doors down from my current one, so while I have to move things - it's a good thing as I need to organize and purge - and saving almost $300 a month with my rate increase. Carlton was patient, and thoroughly explained everything and went above and beyond to ensure my new unit was near my current one, making the upcoming move easy. I was ready to move to another facility at around the same cost as my new rate, and am so happy that I won't have to go that route. I'm only giving this five stars to Carlton and his amazing customer service, not only to me, but to other customers I saw him interact with while I was on the property. I don't like some of PS policies and I don't like their $100 rate increases, but I do like Carlton and will stay because of him. ... Read more

I had the most helpful and courteous experience at the Public Storage location on E Diamond. We are a retired military family who have had the need of external storage on/off for the last 20yrs. Thru out those years it’s just been short direct to business customer service. But as of today we experienced exceptional customer service by Carlton and his co-worker (sorry I can’t remember his name at the moment) but he was equally exceptional. What made it exceptional was the compassion and non judgmental attitude towards our situation of feeling overwhelmed by needing space again after all these years. It might not mean a lot to most people but good help is hard to find and even more rare these days are engaged staff. Hats off to the 2 great employees at Diamond Rd in Gaithersburg your attention to details and approachable attitude was well received and I hope other customers take the time to acknowledge your efforts. ... I was having a horrible day when I decided to go to Public Storage. Carlton turned it all around with his positive and helpful attitude. He gave me options on choosing the right unit and even looked online at other Public Storage units in the area to better help me. He made my experience enjoyable and easy. Wendy his co worker was also very friendly and accommodating. Public Storage needs to have employees like Carlton and Wendy at all there locations. ... Read more

From start to finish, they went above and beyond to make sure every detail was handled with care and precision. Both were incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely kind. They made the process smooth, stress-free, and even enjoyable. It’s rare to find such attentive and thoughtful service these days, and I truly appreciate the extra effort they put into ensuring everything was perfect. This has been one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve encountered. I have rented 2 spaces in this location and 1 of it is on the 3rd floor, and when I arrived to drop off 8 boxes, the elevator was out of service. The storage manager suggested I carry the boxes up the stairs and assured me they would notify me once the elevator was repaired. However, I never received a follow-up call. Four weeks later, after hearing nothing, I returned only to find the same issue. Finally, after 12 days, I received a voicemail stating the elevator was operational. Yet, when I went back, it still wasn’t working. I’ve left multiple voicemails because no one asnwers the calls and since then with no response. This ongoing issue has caused significant delays in my moving process. I need someone to call me ASAP ... Read more

This was my first and last time renting something through the internet without looking at it first. As you see in the pictures, this building is not cart-friendly. If you are planning to store large furniture or boxes, be careful because you have to go through doors. These two things are my biggest complaint; it is extremely hard to use the carts when fully loaded because of the edges and a pain in the * go through the doors with large furniture. They called me right away when I posted my initial review, asking me if there was anything they could do. So at least customer service is good. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 501 East Diamond Avenue include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 501 East Diamond Avenue start from $56 and can go up to $483 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
