My experience with this Public Storage location on Old Waterloo Road was extremely disappointing and frustrating. I had a unit reserved and confirmed via a Labor Day weekend sale, only to arrive for my scheduled move-in and find the unit was damaged, with the door completely off the rails. The initial customer service from the woman at the front desk was excellent. She was very professional and apologetic, and she tried her best to find a solution. When she couldn't, she correctly advised me to cancel my contract and get a full refund, with a clear understanding that they would contact me to re-rent the unit at the original sale price once it was repaired or another became available. However, management and other staff failed to follow through on this promise. I was never contacted. When I returned to the location, I discovered the unit had been repaired and re-rented to someone else. What was most insulting was the subsequent call with the manager, who audaciously blamed me and the initial desk agent for not having "done business correctly." I was a patient and understanding customer, willing to roll with a setback to get the unit I wanted at the agreed-upon price. The manager's complete lack of accountability and willingness to shift blame onto customers for their own operational failures is incredibly unprofessional and speaks to a poorly run business. I cannot recommend this location. ... Read more

Office is never open, gate can't be opened with the app anymore, and if there was another storage rental closer to my home, I would switch. Updated after reply from Public Storage. Please fix the gate being able to be opened up with the app. The remote access has not been working for 3 weeks. ... Read more

I have rented a storage unit since 2009 and currently still rent the unit at the Elkridge, MD location. I would recommend this location for anyone looking for a storage unit. Any questions I had over the years I reach out to the property manager for a quick resolution. I have been happy the property and with the customer service provided by the managers at the property. ... Read more

They are stealing out of storage units and claiming that people left the unit unlocked. The company said the police have to get a warrant to see the video. The footprints which are cowboy boots in the chair of where the person stood to steal the TV is wonderful evidence ?? See you in court! ... Read more

I helped a friend store & remove items here, my observations below: -when initially storing, we observed the unit was remarkably tiny for the price, the width/length of a closet, but advertised as more spacious because it was tall/high. We made it work, but storing high is always less practical/more difficult and precarious. She has a much bigger unit in Montgomery County at similar price point. -someone had duct taped the keypad code door leading into the hallway with her unit, so it was missing one of the 2 promised layers of security. We took the tape off, but there’s no telling if the perpetrator did it again afterwards. -when retrieving items, someone tried to shamelessly tailgate us in, & it took the awkward persistence of refusing to move the car forward to deter them. It stinks to be in that position, especially if the person gets irate about it. -only furniture and books were stored, but a dead mouse and live cockroaches were found when extracting the furniture after just a month in that tiny unit (I.e., don’t expect your belongings to be safe from other units’ infestations). In conclusion, if you are ready to mouse & roach-proof your belongings prior to storing, stand tip-toe on a stool to stack your boxes to the ceiling, and/or inspect and wipe down all your belonging for pest droppings or eggs after retrieval, and potentially have only your assigned lock/key to protect your stuff if folks tailgate or tape doors, then this may be the right place for you. Nothing was stolen or missing, hence 3 stars. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 7050 Old Waterloo Road include the following amenities: Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, First Floor Access, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 200 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 7050 Old Waterloo Road start from $28 and can go up to $221 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
