What customers are saying

4.9/5 - 133 Reviews

Read some helpful reviews of Devon Self Storage at 2155 East Columbus Avenue, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

The manager here is extremely rude and unprofessional. He refused to let a disabled young man sit for a few minutes to rest, locked doors without warning, and treated the family like they weren’t welcome. Families already under stress deserve compassion, not humiliation — I’ll be moving my belongings to another storage facility soon. Full Review: I’ve had this storage unit for only a few months, and at first I gave 5 stars. I’m changing it to 1 star after repeated negative experiences with the manager. Even during sign-up, I felt misled. The promotion for a free month didn’t add up — I was still charged, and the math wasn’t right. I let it slide because I needed a unit quickly, but now I see that was a mistake. The most recent visit was the worst by far. I was helping a mother and her disabled son, who are already dealing with serious personal trauma. The young man was overheated, visibly stressed, and about to faint. I politely asked if he could sit in the waiting area chair for a few minutes to rest. The manager refused, saying he “doesn’t appreciate people lingering in his office.” He even turned to the mom and asked if she was “going to sit with him,” as if anyone was asking him to babysit. That was insulting and completely unnecessary. When I asked where the bathroom was, the manager himself directed me through the office. We used it quickly and quietly. But as soon as we came out, I discovered he had locked the office door behind us. Instead of giving me a simple heads-up — like, “I’ll be locking this door, please use the other way out” — he forced me to track him down. When I asked why, he told me he doesn’t like people “using his office to get to the bathroom.” That’s ridiculous, because I only went that way because he sent me that way. If he didn’t want that, he could have walked us out and shown us the other entrance from the start. This made a simple visit into an unnecessary and humiliating ordeal. Security cameras will show that I wasn’t doing anything wrong — just following the directions he gave me. This manager acts like the office is his personal property and customers are beneath him. He is the face of the company, but instead of professionalism, he shows arrogance and hostility. Customers rent storage because they’re already under stress — they should not be made to feel invisible, unwanted, or looked down on. There are plenty of other storage facilities with lower prices and managers who actually respect their customers. I will be moving my belongings to another facility very soon. If you value dignity and respect, don’t come here. ... Read more

New storage facility in a historical Springfield Building. The staff is wonderful, very friendly, professional, and helpful with whatever you may need. The facility provides lots of different size storage units. There are moving supplies available for purchase in the office. Plenty of light, it's clean, and secure. This is a multi-level facility with an elevator, and moving carts also available to make your move easier. There are even some charming photographs ?? of the Historical building in the office to view during your visit as well. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Devon Self Storage - 2155 East Columbus Avenue include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Devon Self Storage - 2155 East Columbus Avenue start from $24 and can go up to $194 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
