I heard about this storage facility from some family members and thought it would be a good place to switch my storage too. Moving things is overwhelming in general and i was stressed about loosing a reciet when a nice man came up to ask me if I was enjoying my storage experience which I thought was charming and I explained my day and he told me about the app and how its easy to manage my account from there instead of by mail and I downloaded the app and found the reciet. I left forgetting I was even having a bad day. Thank you again Mikey , you made my day ... Read more

I originally rated this place five stars, but not anymore. The prices were changed without any warning, and there’s a constant turnover of staff—which says a lot about how the company is run. Sadly, the quality has dropped across the board. If you can avoid this location, I strongly recommend you do. ... Read more

I booked a storage unit (5x5) same day on a Sunday afternoon and had absolutely no problem pulling in in the evening and unloading my car during a stressful cross country move. Two years later I'm a very happy customer. This particular location in Somerville is convenient right next to a grocery store with plenty of parking and very easy access with a ramp and garage doors. As with all storage units, the price did change over time as demand changed. But when the price increased to an amount I could no longer afford, their team worked with me on a discount so I could stay. I highly recommend Extra Space Storage and the folks working at the Sommerville location in particular! ... Read more

They increased my rent every 4 month within almost a year from $50 to 75$ and now to 128$ for a 5x5x5 unit! The rate is unfair and not based on real market value as they wrongfully claim. I do not recommend this place at all! The rent in their website is valid only for 3 month and then keeps going up! I was told that since other customers are willing to pay for more, they decided to increase the rent. On a positive note, the location is quiet and clean and we were happily using it before these crazy rent jumps. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Extra Space Storage - 14 McGrath Hwy include the following amenities: Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Credit Cards Accepted, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 20 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Extra Space Storage - 14 McGrath Hwy start from $99 and can go up to $697 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
