I was really lucky to get a small unit here to hold my things for a few months before I complete a big move. I've interacted with 4 different employees here and they have all been helpful. I always always forget how to use the freight elevator so each time an employee has had to show me what to do again. The lift has always worked the times I needed to use it. The big freight elevator made it really easy to move all my things into and out of the storage unit. I used a U-box to move my things out and had it parked for a short period of time just next to the lift. Closing my account was straightforward and hassle-free. Maria helped me open my account and she was the one who helped me close the account. If you need a (super) affordable basic option, this is perfect. Nope, it's not climate controlled and yes, the hours are "limited". If you're not having to constantly get into your storage unit I can't imagine the hours being a big issue. ... Read more

Cheapest in the area. Not open 24 hours, but if you don't need to get things in and out all the time it's should be fine. Our storage unit is ground level and seemed very clean and dry when we got it. Staff was nice the few times we came in and out. Worth it for the price. ... Read more

Customer Service you should not have to argue with someone just to get their name. Who ever we spoke to was the most inpatient, rude, inhospitable person i have ever had to deal with. I actually felt like i had called a bill collector. We will drive the 45 minutes away to get what we need simply due to this ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at McCarthy Self Services Storage - 22 Harvard Street include the following amenities: Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by McCarthy Self Services Storage - 22 Harvard Street start from $38 and can go up to $292 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
