Read some helpful reviews of Simpson Brothers Moving-Storage at 45 South Canal Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

My mother and I used this storage place because she used them many years ago and it was good service. This time we paid for a storage space and that was fine and they told us verbally they would be open on Monday 9-5pm. We rented a uhaul truck that was due back 2pm on a Monday (08/08/'22). We got there at 11am and the fence was locked up and we were confused. We called them multiple times with no one answering. We saw another person (waiting for another storage space nearby to open up) and he said (about Simpson&bros)"they open up whenever they want" he went (a previous time)to talk to the owner of Simpson&bros and asked him about opening up at random hours and not what's posted and the owner said "it's my business,I can open up whenever I want." We waited nearly 3 hours until we finally got a new storage place at Century (the place was reliable and the woman was helpful). We were in Lawrence yesterday (Monday 08/15/'22) and we drove by Simpson&bros around 10am and they were closed. Thankfully later around 11am we saw they were open so we could get the little bit of storage out that we did put there previously and took our lock and key with us because we weren't going back. This is just a warning to others, especially if you have a uhaul that's due at a certain time because they open whenever they want with no regard to customers. ... Read more

Great service and family owned! Hard working and moved all items very well. Had specific instructions for things and they were able to accomplish all. They also packaged delicate items for me. Great service. ... Read more

Simpson Bros did an amazing job moving me from Lawrence to New Hampshire. They were efficient and careful and took care not to damage anything, even cleaning furiture to ensure my newly refinished wood floors remained spotless. I couldn't have asked for a better moving experience, which I had needlessly dreaded. ... Read more

Worst moving experience ever. They were slow and took too long, broke fragile items and overcharged me at the end. The storage unit is cheap but not for a dirty old warehouse. They were hostile when I moved out after 5 years renting from them. You get what you pay for.... ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Simpson Brothers Moving-Storage - 45 South Canal Street include the following amenities: Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Truck Rentals, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Multi-Level Storage and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
