The management is friendly. They contact you back quickly. The inside storage is really nice during rain or the cold weather. The access inside can be a little tight. The only problem I had was with the price increase. Other than that I would have given 5 stars all day long. ... Read more

Luckily I couldn't access my storage to put my things in it before dealing with... no access(could get in where people's rv's and the other businesses are but not where my unit is), no one answering calls, get phone call returned from call center(all nice people) and they can't get ahold of anyone either, they put in a ticket for access. Next day I'm at the front door between 10:30 and 11:30 on the phone getting everything refunded. Just... wow. Complete waste of time. Should have checked the reviews harder ... Read more

There have been some changes. From my conversation with new Manager he is going to fix issues. He seems nice and honest. Had a unit for a few months and I can see he actually cares. Let’s hope Neal can do it. ... Read more

DO NOT RENT HERE! Heartland Storage use to be ran with actual people in the office. They have since fired all their staff and management is now run by GoStoreIt. GoStoreIt has the worst customer service ever. Not only have they raised the rent every month but since they have took over we have lost access numerous times. Everything is remote now so you better hope you don't need to get ahold of them for anything because getting on the phone with someone is extremely difficult. We will be moving out of this facility. ... Read more

I've had a storage unit for about 2 wks now. I'm less than pleased with the access issues I have had THUS far. Hopefully it will b addressed and fixed finally today. My code only works on 1 of the 2 keypads, not the one I need to access my unit in the building OF COURSE. Twice I've went there & had to leave because no access. To PAY $130 after fees & taxes .... And NOT b able to get to my stuff is unacceptable! Also I went down this am at 630am. The sign on the main entry garage door, as well as the website & all web.info I have seen states hours are 6am to 10pm. I was informed by a maintenance man this am at 640am that the door wouldn't open or be accessible til 7am! Said the sign is wrong! Fix it!??! There is no lighting inside the building. The unit has an overhead light that doesn't work. Changed the bulb still no light! Pitch dark. So using flashlights to sort my stuff. And it's not climate controlled, which is ok, but what they don't mention is the building that the units are in.... Is a hotbox sauna with no air circulation AT ALL. ITS ALMOST UNBEARABLE WHEN TEMP IS UP TO 80 OR MORE. I was in a tight spot and had to find a storage facility with very little time! I wouldn't refer anyone to this facility at this point. They were very punctual when I needed the unit rented, over the phone, not in person . They provided a lock. Unit was clean. ... Read more

Update (07/30/25): I want to add to my initial comments from early June ‘25, as I have received additional “over-and-above” helpful customer service from the facility manager, Terry. Terry helped me get through the process of moving my travel trailer to a more convenient warehouse location in the past couple of days. Not only that, but he patiently walked me through the administrative/online aspects of the change. Undoubtedly, Terry is the main reason I still rent at this facility. The storage facility itself has gone through at least two management changes in the last 6 years from privately owned “Overhead Storage” to “Heartland Storage” and now (in recent weeks), to “GoStoreIt”; each transition brought with it some confusion and turbulent rate changes. Things appear to have settled down from the customer/value standpoint. Many thanks to Terry for his kind and gracious support throughout! ================================================== Both Terry and Alisha at Heartland Storage Lafayette are very customer-service oriented. While the rental pricing is controlled independently by a third party, they do everything possible to serve the customer’s best interests. They are extremely personable, friendly, and great to interact with. ... Read more

Absolutely fantastic experience. The 70' X 20' unit is massive if you ever need to store something large that's indoor but not temperature-controlled (or something like an RV or trailer that's okay outside but needs to be covered). I wish I remembered the man's name who helped me arrange the reservation, but thank you for your great service. As for check-out, Alisha was amazing and so very helpful. Thank you so much. We'll be back in the winter! ... Read more

Been a terrible experience for 2 years now. They raised price of the inside unit from $139 to $249! And never informed us. This is the second time they have done this and won’t credit us back. No emails no phone calls to let us know of the rate change. One person says one thing “oh yeah we never informed you we will get it fixed “ then another person says “oh we called you” I have proof from my phone for the last 5 months of no recent phones calls from them. They are terrible at honest business practice. We own a small business and we certainly do not do business this way. We opened a dispute with credit card. And plan to move the camper. Please beware especially if you want an inside unit. It’s ridiculous. It doesn’t have to be this way. They make you sign a contract that is only good for them. They said they didn’t inform us. They said they would make it right they lied Your response is not accurate. The rate of $129 was on the website and I check the website often to see how the rates change so when I saw that the rate was lowered I had to call about it. It’s funny because a customer has to call to get rates lowered but does not receive a call or email about the increase. I would have told us right away about the so called “error” and then proceed to the increased rate next month. We never knew we received a special rate for however long because it was the posted rate on the website. It was certainly NOT communicated the whole way. Why do you think we’ve been calling for the last 3 weeks asking someone to please explain and help us. We get all different answers or completely ignored. So that’s why I left this review. Because we gave you plenty of time to rectify the situation. ... Read more

I’ve had a unit at this facility for several years, long before heartland bought it, when it was then known as undercover storage. Since the ownership change, I’ve been pretty unhappy. They took away 24 hour access, have increased the rent 3 times since taking ownership, and only loosely staff their posted office hours for in person customer service. My biggest complaint of all though is that only about every other time I need to access my unit does the building gate actually work. The building is old, as is the gate, and they clearly don’t maintain it as well as it used to be. It’s busted or out of order VERY frequently. With the substantial rent hikes, you’d think maybe new facility access gates might be in order, or better maintenance at least, but all they’ve done is build a bunch of nice big expensive covered RV storage spaces at the back of the lot, and sticking the tenants that rent the indoor units with the bill, apparently. I’ve put up with all of this for quite awhile, dreading the idea of moving my belongings and business inventory to another facility, but I’ve about had it with the non-functioning gate. Reduced amenities for more money just doesn’t make sense. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Heartland Storage - 2750 North 9th Street include the following amenities: Indoor, Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Enclosed, First Floor Access, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 100 to 1,400 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Heartland Storage - 2750 North 9th Street start from $43 and can go up to $395 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
