The five stars is purely for KIM!! I don’t understand why after a few months Public Storage would increase my monthly storage fee by over $20.00. I tried called customer service repeatedly to find out why it increased. Ended up turning off the auto pay until I figured it out. When you call the automated service runs you in circles. It convey that a representative is available online or on the app. I couldn’t find where neither online or the app. It wanted me to call the location which I did, but no one was in office , and I knew from the sign o. The door they wouldn’t be in the next day either. I had no way to find out what was going on. Kim in the office was the utmost helpful! She referenced an email notification that was supposedly sent Nov 23. But, I searched my email, including all mail I received from public storage, and the rental increase notice was not there. She was able to submit an application after I made the increased payment, as it was due being the 2nd, to decrease the amount. Which was successful and I appreciate immensely. Any time I’ve went in and spoken with her, she made things so much easier and exhausts all possibilities to be of help. And time I’ve called customer service, I’m never properly taken care of. ... Property manager was extremely helpful but most importantly showed great care and was kind in that help. Often times when interacting with others, while it is their job to assist, they give you attitude and don’t seem to really want to help. Kim however was the complete opposite and did much more than what is expected in her role in sure! ... Read more

The P. - 13 January 2025
They increased our rent from $73 to $122 without notice and when I tried to talk to their customer service about why we are paying that much for a 5x10 when there is a 10x10 listed for only $66 a month they said that their rent will always go up even if other units around it are a different price. They said they do not negotiate or price match their rentals and that the only way we could get that price is to cancel the contract with that rental and do a new one. This is very bad customer service if you ask me and definitely shows they are just out to get all the money they can scam out of people. They did try to offer me a discounted rate of only $98 a month but I've heard from other sources that the email they are supposed to send with all the details never come. I guess we will se but we probably are going to be moving storage units ... Read more

Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 5519 Illinois Road start from $32 and can go up to $227 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
