I came to pick up the item I won at the unpaid storage auction, but there was no one in the office and Scott did not answer his phone throughout the entire business day. I spent almost the whole day outside the office and called customer support several times, but they were unable to resolve the issue. I ended up going home without receiving my item ... Read more

Scott Noll was extremely helpful with paying my storage unit bill after 4 days of the App and Website being down and not a single email from corporate letting customers know that they were having technical issues. So thank you Scott Noll for your patience and excellent service ?? ... Read more

We were a few days late in July. Paid up. Unit never unlocked. Paid August, unit never unlocked. We still have no information about when they'll unlock it, just repeat assurance it'll be unlocked. Going on 2 months with no access to our unit. ... Read more

I have been renting a 10x20 unit for roughly 1yr. Don’t remember exactly what month we started renting. With that said, I leave this review as a real customer who’s been here long enough to give real feedback and not a mad customer who got locked out because they don’t pay their bill. From the span of 1 to 10or12 months, My monthly rates have been raised twice and roughly has went up an extra $30 per price increase! My numbers are not exact but very close. Starting out, monthly cost w/insurance was around $132-$142. Now today’s cost I am paying $198-$200 per month. If ever a late fee, that’ll cost an extra $36 I’ve been late 1 time. 8 days late and that total was $228!! Rather steep!! Not finding this company as a viable choice I’d recommend. Why?? What has happened to justify this increase?? Well, from what I’ve gathered. It’s been under new ownership? Employee told me this. And I’ve been told they were going to invest on pest control? I’ve not seen improvements. I’ll explain soon! The last thing I’ve seen is a new keypad with gate open option through app from your phone when you arrive in front of gate. Is that worth this insane price increase? Not to me! In fact, I’m really contemplating on gathering my belongings and leaving this facility behind!! Day one, empty unit, the floors were fairly clean! I noticed mouse droppings scattered about along the walls. But it wasn’t a large amount. Putting belongings in unit, I return back 2 weeks later and the amount of mouse/rat droppings was substantial!! Every time I have stopped in at my unit, I have thoroughly cleaned the rodent droppings just to return another time and find it’s loaded with droppings. I guess it’s a good thing I opted for the insurance!! Who knows what might be ruined at this point!! I’ve not seen anything improve from day one. So I have a hard time accepting their price increase. To me, it simply feels like greed. Raising rates because they can. I’ll point out one more gripe. Which is ultimately my error for not noticing the fine print…. But you will notice it is propped up to seem like it is a 24/7 facility. The only thing that is 24/7 is you having the ability to pay your bill 24/7 or rent a unit at the kiosk 24/7. But you do not have access to your unit 24/7. The gate does not allow entry after 10pm or 11pm. With that said, if you want to up the rates to such a ridiculous monthly amount for a rodent and rodent droppings infested storage facility, (it’s not just my unit or the building my unit is in that have this problem) as I’ve spoken with at least 4 other customers who have asked me while on site if I happen to have rodent droppings in my unit also! I know for fact, rodents didn’t get packed up when we packed our belongings! But I have told those who’ve asked. Yep, rodents all over this building!! I clean it up when I’m here, come back 1-2 weeks later and it’s littered all over again….. with that said, given the absurd price increase, put forth worthy effort of reasoning and notable change to allow “legit 24/7” access to your customers/renters unit/property!! ... Property is trashed, nobody takes care of Property. People standing around Property shooting up dope. Nobody here cares about anything other than money. When i talked to guy on Property about move out date of 3/25 he put in computer for 3/17. When i went in the mobile office he was sleeping with his feet proped up. Didn't notice or hear me until i said hello. Had to get "Jessica" at corporate level to fix this guys screw up. She was very professional in this matter. This all took place 3/15/25. Tried calling local before corporate level but nobody answers phone. They dont care about customers, just their money. ... Read more

Bad conditions. Looks like we had rodents or some type of pest. Could be termites. There were wood shavings and a ball of fur on my mattress. There was mold and mildew too. There were nails in front of the unit and they popped my friends tire. I’m filing an insurance claim. ... Read more

**update 8/14- Zach called and apologized for the experience I had. He actually listed which was nice. He did refund the admin fee which I greatly appreciate. *update 8/3- we did end up cancelling and not getting the $29 admin fee back. We are currently waiting for Zach (manager?) to call me back. The number they posted was a generic number and not helpful. My husband met with Josh (field maintenance worker) at the storage unit who apologized that it was in such poor condition and besides a sweep there was nothing he could do about the overall poor quality of the unit and there were no other units available in that size for us to switch too and that he is the only worker at two storage unit locations. Again I strongly advice against using this company because the communication is not good! Got access to our unit today and this is what we walked into. When we called the customer support they were rude and not understanding. Hopefully tomorrow when the unit crew is in they are able to get us switched to a decent unit that is not a health and safety concern if not we will be canceling but unable to get out $29 administration fee back even though clearly there was no proper preparations made for our unit. This is unacceptable. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Extra Space Storage - 4501 Newaygo Road include the following amenities: Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Kiosk Available, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Multi-Level Storage, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 35 to 400 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Extra Space Storage - 4501 Newaygo Road start from $35 and can go up to $436 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
