Read some helpful reviews of Extra Space Storage at 1130 West Main Street, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

I rented an upstairs 10x15 from this location for about a year. They sent a letter in the mail after 60 days explaining they'd be raising the rent $50 on the unit. So they get you moved in and jack up the rates. I got an upstairs unit because they claimed to have a lift. The lift broke a month after moving in and it has not been fixed for the ENTIRE YEAR I've been there. I've tried waiting to move out for the lift to be fixed because it is going to be an awful job up and down the stairs. The waiting was pointless. Don't bother trying to reach anyone on the phone during business hours. They are understaffed to skeleton crew numbers. Every worker I've talked to was friendly and explained that which is why I gave the second star. It's not their fault. It's the greedy Extra Space corporation collecting the rent and not spending anything on repairs or employees. There's no excuse for it. I'm moving my stuff down the road to Fort Wayne Downtown storage. ... Read more

This place is the best. Totally easy to work with and have help from. I moved my furniture in this summer when it was 100 degress and one of the workers gave us many free bottles of water when it felt like were dying. And then i was having problems with my units and lock and Billan was the best assist ever in that. 10/10 ... Read more

Our unit was clean and I like that the lock for our unit was provided. My only concern is lack of outdoor lighting for after hours drop off in the dark. I also like the fact you can enter with the app. No remembering codes etc. ... Read more

This place is the last place to put your stuff. I can’t get out of her fast enough. They jack up rates faster than any other storage unit. Management, Colin is a joke. If you want to store your stuff and not have to check the price every month don’t store with this company. If you do, I wish you the best on moving your stuff twice, in and out. ... Read more

One of the worst storage facilities I’ve ever been in, unless you plan on spending 15 minutes a trip with the elevator (assuming nobody else is trying to use it) the stairs are your best option. Better go at night though because a thermostat after only 10 minutes of being in a unit says it’s 87 degrees (keep in mind it’s 92 degrees outside) how on earth are you going to call this climate controlled?? And none of this would be a problem if absolutely anybody was in the office during posted office hours. Will most definitely be pushing any and all customers of ours away from this location… ... Okay where do I start. I ordered online the lady told me the storage was right through the door. She didn’t tell me it was up 2 flights of stairs. So I go to the office and Colin was a life save I swear. So first off he made it smooth to switch me out units that I actually wanted them to top it off I had paid 12$ for a lock that didn’t qualify ???? Colin gave me a lock walked me through the app got me through the gate and got me right in my way! I think this was the best storage experience ever especially with the changes I needed. Thanks Colin you lit as hell for all you did ... Read more

Just rented a unit and despite the location being in transition from previous ownership, I was able to rent a unit quickly and their app to enter doors was easy to use. The freight elevator was equipped with two approx. 2x4 ft flatbed carts which was very helpful. And I am happy with the rate for the unit and the personal service. Manager was friendly and helpful not just to me, but to other customers he interacted with. It might be early to tell how the change in ownership will affect the quality of their service, but I say give them a chance especially if you are looking for storage near downtown. ... Read more

Last year I rented a 5x10 unit, and until seven months ago I would have given Public Storage five stars overall, and also at the W. Main location. Then in January they raised my rate from $56/mo to $73/mo, nearly 30%. So last month I was finally able to make arrangements to vacate my unit, but the lift was broken and I was unable to remove my things. They still charged me for the month less $24 (for the inconveniences). Then last week I received notice that my rent would go up to $97/mo, but guess what? The lift is still broken a month later. I cannot remove my belongings. They have notified me that they will only charge me $73 for September if I cannot remove my items. I shouldn't have had to pay for August because, through no fault of my own, I was unable to move out, let alone pay for September if they don't have the lift fixed. DO NOT RENT FROM PUBLIC STORAGE! It's like renting from the mob! ... Read more

2 story storage facility. Units on Floor 2 are reasonably lless per month rental fee as the units on Floor 1. OK that's cool , its "cheaper." And .because they have 1 freight elevator on the far west side of the building It's ALWAYS OUT OF ORDER/ yep, the freight elevator to move your possessions down and up and up and down. Is BROKEN, NON WORKING, OFTEN!! ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Extra Space Storage - 1130 West Main Street include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Elevators, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 300 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Extra Space Storage - 1130 West Main Street start from $44 and can go up to $234 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
