Read some helpful reviews of Public Storage at 708 West Central Road, shared by real renters with genuine experiences and honest opinions.

MOLD MOLD MOLD MOLD MOLD 2 months after moving in to a “climate controlled” unit all of my belongings are growing mold. The unit advertised as climate controlled is only heated (according to staff that’s what climate controlled means) the door to the bank of units is also broken and doesn’t automatically close allowing in moisture staff claims there’s a ticket out to repair it but at this point it’s negligence and my items I’m paying almost 200$ a month to store are ruined as a result. The response from staff is to file an insurance claim, I think at this point I may need to file more than an insurance claim there are family heirloom items in that unit that are irreplaceable. The staff is friendly and have nothing against them but the conditions the owners keep the place in is beyond unacceptable ... Read more

Review for Public Storage – Central Rd, Mount Prospect I recently moved out of my unit at this Public Storage location and was extremely disappointed to discover that many of my household items were covered in mold. This included a leather couch, large desk, two kids’ mattresses, a large rug, framed pictures, a decorative wall hanging, food tray tables, a couch table console, two kids’ dressers, and a trundle bed. Nearly everything had to be thrown away, except for the trundle bed and dressers, which I had to power wash and treat with mold spray just to salvage. When I spoke with a staff member at the front desk, he was kind and understanding. He acknowledged that at least 3 other tenants had complained about mold in the month of August alone. He also informed me that the facility is only heat-controlled, not air-conditioned, despite the website advertising “temperature-controlled” units. This is incredibly misleading and contributed to the damage to my belongings. The staff member mentioned that there should be signage inside clarifying the heat-only setup, but the manager refuses to hang it. He also said he’s repeatedly asked for the facility to be remedied due to its poor condition. The smell of mildew is very evident, and even he admitted to it. I was told I’d receive a call back within 72 hours to discuss what could be done to help me, but it’s been over a week and I’ve heard nothing. This lack of accountability and follow-through is unacceptable. I would strongly caution anyone considering this location for storage—especially if you’re storing furniture or other sensitive items. The misleading advertising and poor facility conditions have cost me hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in damage. ... Read more

UPDATE: I was pleased that this location, and it's manager Brent are still there. They're both a great addition to Mount Prospect. I value businesses with continuity and quality and this Public Storage location fits that description. This is a fantastic location for Mount Prospect residents, and the manager is a local guy who is extremely helpful and kind: Brent Busse. Not only is he very knowledgeable about everything with leasing a unit and all of the options that would meet our particular needs, because he is a lifelong MP native, he really cares about our customer experience more than most. He is not just a "corporate" face, rather, he treats us like a neighbor and takes time with us. I don't write a lot of reviews but when someone stands out, I want to call attention to them. ... Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 708 West Central Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Online Payment and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 25 to 200 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 708 West Central Road start from $55 and can go up to $179 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
