Business ran by messaging. Left a message never got a reply. Poor way to run a business. Found a storage unit North of Freeport. They have a person that answers the phone and answers all of your questions. Now that's good business! ... Read more

My husband and I have been renting a unit here for 1 year. We have had an occasional late payment but never more than a week or so. April 15th, I had a text conversation with the on-site manager. I paid $230 which included a late fee and what I understood was an additional 2 months. The manager, Lori, stated I was now paid in full through June 3rd... We tried to pay our June and July payment today and she insists we owe $220. $50 of which are late fees for the month of May and a "lockout fee" and also includes Mays payment amount of $60. She was rude from the moment I asked to see the invoices as I knew that this amount could not be correct. She would not allow me to help her understand that I couldn't have possibly accrued any late fees or lock out fees during May, because I paid for the month of May on April 15th. My husband needed tools from the unit for work so after 30 minutes of her resisting every attempt I made to right this and absolutely ZERO interest in letting me explain why her computer print out invoice was incorrect, I at least got her to agree to letting my husband get "4 or 5 things" as long as I made a payment today. We went to the storage shed. I made a payment, she escorted us to our unit. My husband put pieces that attach to his table saw in a bin, and then was going in after the saw itself. The manager Laurie or Lori, proceeded to start saying NO NO THAT BIN IS MORE THAN THE 4 I SAID YOU COULD TAKE.!!!! I attempted to explain how it all went together but was just disassembled. She wanted NO part of wanting to understand this. AND THEN THIS WOMAN GRABBED THE OVERHEAD DOOR OF THE UNIT AND SLAMMED IT ON US!! Literally came down forceably enough it caused a large knot on his head, cut open his face and arm and cut my shoulder and a small split on my lip. I had a dash cam recording this and I made her aware of it. I again tried to show her it was ONE UNIT but just taken apart as to fit in the truck better. She immediately started denying she did this and I demanded we involve an officer. She would not immediately call them. A great deal of juvenile and unnecessary exchange of words ensued, we didn't bother finishing the loading of the other few items we came after, We got in our truck and left the premises. I. Have never seen a worse display of customer service or lack there of. We asked who we could contact, possibly the owner, in the hopes we could resolve this issue in an adult like manner. She refused to give us any helpful or at this point necessary information. :( ... Read more

Worst place to store your stuff. Went to retrieve our belongings from the unit to find everything had been ruined from an obvious flood. We were never notified of any possible damage or flooding from heavy rains. When we reported the damage to the manager she claimed there had never been a report of damage at their facility before and blew me off. We discovered this was a lie when an acquaintance told me the same thing happened to her at this facility and when she tried to report it, the manager refused her calls and never addressed the issue. Upon inspection my husband noticed an area on the external part of the wall was rusted through. Now the manager is hiding behind an insurance clause for her obvious disregard of the condition of the units and we are out $8,000 in furniture and other belongings. My advice is go somewhere else and schedule an itemized list with your insurance. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Total Self Storage - 1598 East Currier Road include the following amenities: 24 hour access, Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 50 to 780 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Total Self Storage - 1598 East Currier Road start from $35 and can go up to $230 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
