The most disgusting place I have ever been. I put my stuff in a unit over 2 years ago. Everything is covered in mouse/rat poop all the boxes even plastic totes have been entered by rodents. Walking through the halls there are cigarette butts and beer cans scattered around. The elevator smells like pee. There are never any employees. People are living in units. It is unsafe and the rodent infestation is ridiculous. I am so disgusted. Years of paying rent and insurance just to go get my belongings and 95% of it being damaged and destroyed due to rodent droppings. Im not even sure it's safe to go through my belongings to see if anything is salvageable. They constantly increase the rent and for what? They should be hiring a cleaner and pest control. I've had to call the front desk from the elevator to come and let us out because it wouldn't work due to the doors not closing properly. Once when the elevator was out of service we took the stairs and were locked in the stairs. Not one door open, called front desk multiple times and left voicemail. We ended up going all the way to the bottom and exiting through a fire escape door which thankfully opened but no alarm sounded. I wish I had wrote a review or moved my belongings when those incidents occurred. But moving is a hassle and I just did not expect the destruction and contamination that I have experienced. 2 years paying inflating rent for a unit full of unsalvageable things. I will be following up with this. I wish I could give a negative stars review. Do not use this facility. There are clean adaquality staffed facilities less than 2 miles away. DO NOT make the same mistake I did. I will be adding photos* ... Read more

Scam of a company. First months rent is $1, then $120, then $150, then $180 as soon as you're late with a payment just to get it over $400 so they can sell your things for $1,000's, tell you they sold it for a couple hundred, the property manager pockets the rest of the money, and they get away with it!? Was barely a month and a half behind, they put a lien on my unit, and sold half my life along with a lot of my deceased father's things, without even batting an eye!? Scumbag company, scumbag property managers. Look into other storage options, plenty of newer, cleaner facilities, that won't try to legally steal your things. Do not recommend ever for any reason at all... ... Read more

It's ok. Just that sometimes the hours aren't that great. Close at least at 7 because of working people. It is indeed full of roaches and rats/mice. I used it for short term rental until I moved into my new apartment. Some of my food that was in a sealed tote was gotten into by mice or rats. Some of my clean clothes had mice droppings on them so now in addition to moving I have to worry about laundry was well. And several times when I went there there were roaches in the unit. I can honestly say that I didn't bring them there. I sprayed my unit. And another thing they want the rent on the first but I refused to pay for a full months rent when I was getting my stuff on the 2nd. They try to make you pay for insurance. So The guy Jesse is hardly ever there but he made sure to call me as I was leaving out of the storage to call and tell me I owed 108 dollars. I didn't I paid for the full 2 months that my stuff was there. Not paying anything beyond that. It's ok but only if you only have your stuff there for like a month otherwise there will be an infestation in your things. Next time I'll stick with U haul. At least it's free with a rental of a vehicle and the day you move in is the date for next months payment not the first. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Public Storage - 4520 West Cermak Road include the following amenities: Climate-Controlled, Indoor, Retail Available, Onsite Manager, Contactless Renting, Security Camera, Gate, Parking, Credit Cards Accepted, Elevators, First Floor Access, Multi-Level Storage and Online Payment. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

This particular storage facility provides self storage units of different sizes, ranging from 32 to 324 square feet. Space is not an issue! If you have more belongings to store, or simply bulkier items or even vehicles, you should go for larger storage units.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Monthly prices for units offered by Public Storage - 4520 West Cermak Road start from $61 and can go up to $481 for larger spaces.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
