I was 10 minutes late coming out of storage are , as I was having problems getting the lock back on . They do not put the outside lights on. As I got to the Gate the woman the women said I had to me out before 8 pm and I better not let it happen again. She was very rude to me. ... Read more

Not pleased with my experience at all. Positives are the unit is clean, easy access with trailer down each corridor, access to storage unit office during business hours. For Nampa, Idaho, your getting one of the worst deals for storage. Large unit is more than a Uhaul location monthly of the same size that allows 24 hour access, fully lit and security cameras all around the premises. The limited access is a no go for me. Winter hours open until 8PM is inconvenient. I get off work, need to land and move items via trailer, time is limited to get in /out. Fortress has minimal lighting - I get that it is winter and daylight is minimal at night. For the cost they are asking, lighting could be installed. A tall unit doesn't have any real benefit to me as the angle of the roof in the rear of the unit increases. The door is one size, height Is not a qualifying reason to ask for higher monthy rate. I was told this when I questioned the ridiculous $110 a month rate as for the reasoning of the size of the unit. It is a pain in my rear with the extremely long gate codes, not mention you have to type the code in to leave the unit. This has been more of a hassle and expense than any other units I've used in the past in the valley. Try Meridian Self Storage, or Boise. You'll save $20+ monthly and have access at convenient times. Safety and security is also a benefit at other locations. They are clean and secure! No single person walking towards you cracked out on something screaming obsurities because your driving to your unit with your lights on, and no concern for peepers walking by the coordors checking to see if you lock up or not. What an experience with Fortress. I sort of understand the shutdown they implement for these reasons. Still no excuse to reevaluate security and control of the premises at the rate they charge. I am a shared on unit contract. I use the unit more than my counterpart so I have the inconvenient understanding of working with Fortress Storage in Nampa, Idaho. This is my review of my experience this far. ... Read more

I moved in to a smaller house and had to put some items in to storage. We did this in a hurry right before winter. I didn't realize that I had pictures in one of the boxes. During the winter mice got in to the box and shredded the pictures. As we we're cleaning out our storage I noticed what had happened. I called fortress to let them know what happened and that I would be moving everything out of storage, no one answered the phone when I called so I left a.message asking that someone call me back. This was during business hours and about 45 min went by without a return call. I happened to drive by fortress and the manager was sitting on the porch smoking a cigarette. I tried to call again and again I got vm. I called several times and finally got someone on the phone. I let her know about the mouse getting in to my pictures. She just said yeah we have mice. I didn't get an apology for what happened. I let her know we would be moving out and asked how much of a notice I needed to give. She said 5 days. When I asked if I'd get a refund for the rest of the month she said no. So basically the 5 day notice means nothing. As if that isn't bad enough a short time after we got our storage unit some one backed in to the door and broke it. They called us to let us know what happened and told us it was our responsibility to move everything out of one storage unit into another and we needed to do it that day because our items were not secure. They wouldn't just fix the door. We had to drop everything and move it ourselves. Our storage also went up 20.00 when it was taken over by u-haul. I guess in the end I'm just so glad to be out of there!! ... Read more

Super nice people run this storage facility located not far from the garrity exit. This is the second time we've rented a unit from them and highly recommend the place. Lots of unit size options as well as tons of RV spots. Gate access and very clean. They're open until 8 in the winter and 10 in the summer. It would be great if it were 24 hour access but the increased hours in the summer definitely helps. ... Read more

I never write reviews! That says a lot about this facility. We have used a unit of theirs for about 7 months and are now moving. This facility is always clean, the people who run/work there are amazing and nice, and the rates are better than anyone else around. Loved this unit and sad that they are not in the place where i am moving. ... Read more

Frequently Asked Questions

Storage units available at Fortress Storage - 59 North Happy Valley Road include the following amenities: Drive-Up Access, Onsite Manager, Security Camera, Gate, Parking and RV Storage. Depending on what you need to put away in storage, you can discover there are some things you absolutely need, so make sure you check with the facility manager that you'll find everything you need on site.

You already know how much stuff you need to put in self storage, so figuring out the unit size you need is the next step. Smaller units such as 5'x5' or 5'x10' spaces can usually be filled with the amount of items you would normally store in a closet: a few chairs and lamps, sports equipment, garden tools and some boxes.

Moving on to larger sizes, imagine the 10'x10' and 10'x15' units as similar to a bedroom or a living room – larger pieces of furniture, sturdier equipment and bicycles can fit here. Finally, a 10'x20' unit has enough space for the contents of a 3-bedroom house, while the larger 10'x30' space easily accommodates the contents of a loaded semi-truck.

Accessibility and quickness are key when it comes to storage, so drive-up storage units are generally regarded as very convenient. Pull your car right up to your storage space, load, unload, and you're good to go! However, if you're mostly storing temperature-sensitive items, you should rather consider indoor storage units.

Climate-controlled units maintain consistent temperatures and humidity levels all year round, making them perfect for all your sensitive items. Moisture and varying temperatures can damage a whole host of things, and that is why a lot of people choose to use climate-controlled units to store items like wooden furniture, electronics, artwork, documents and photographs, collectibles, antiques, etc. If the belongings you're storing are important to you, you should consider renting a climate-controlled unit.
